Senior Lead Data Management Analyst - Controls Testing

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Data Management Analyst to help drive control testing program focused on mitigating data risks across the enterprise.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence objectives, plans, specifications, resources, and long-term goals for highly complex business and technical needs

  • Design and conduct complex analysis to identify and remediate data quality or integrity issues and to identify and remediate process or control gaps

  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking

  • Evaluate process and control metrics and data quality audits to benchmark the state of data quality and risk mitigation

  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions

  • Recommend remediation of process or control gaps that align to management strategy

  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

  • Represent client in cross-functional groups to develop companywide data governance strategies

  • Partner with groups companywide to coordinate and drive collaboration on solution design and remediation execution


Required Qualifications, US:

  • 7+ years of Data Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 3+ years of application management, project management, or equivalent work experience

  • 2+ years of Audit, Compliance Risk, Control Testing, or equivalent


Desired Qualifications:

  • CRISC or ISACA certifications preferred, but not required

  • Strong understanding of process, risk, and control complexities

  • General knowledge of ETL and data integration frameworks

  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to present and discuss information in a manner that persuades, educates, and enhances understanding at all levels

  • Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members

  • Experience managing complex projects in a large enterprise environment

  • Strong technical writing skills

  • Ability to read SQL

  • Good understanding of database, data warehouse, and SDLC concepts

  • Able to synthesize material from multiple sources (e.g., presentations, job logs, ETL workflows, desktop procedures, etc.) to understand a process

  • Ability to understand complex risk management requirements while also understanding process implications and translating them for the business

  • A team player that is inclusive and inquisitive in learning about the current businesses and needs and can quickly provide rich insight into the overall strategic environment

  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create pivot tables, charts and graphs

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills


Job Expectations:

  • Role is responsible for planning, testing, and reporting for controls implemented across various levels within the organization.

  • Planning involves partnership with business, and other testing teams, to ensure appropriate testing sample and timelines are set prior to execution.

  • Testing consists of evaluating controls for their appropriateness and effectiveness by inspecting evidence provided by stakeholders, leading a team of testers and QA reviewers for scripted rationales.

  • Reporting must show results of testing along with coverage of control environment within the area being tested (application, spreadsheet, reports, etc.). As part of reporting, a packaging process must be implemented for gathering of artifacts and scripts related to the audit request, and ensuring entirety is reviewed successfully by auditing entity.

  • Successful candidates will be articulate and possess a demonstrated leadership capability; they will be impressive in their inter-personal effectiveness and with regard to the value they bring to the business. Serve as key first line of defense voice for the effectiveness of controls implemented. Identify and implement process automation opportunities to set the stage for monitoring capabilities.
