Financial Accountant

About this role:

This position will be responsible for supporting the accounting and reporting for WIMs Accounting Business Unit Support (ABUS) team.   This role requires a developed understanding of enterprise finance functional areas and responsible for internal financial management reporting to support the enterprise, working with business partners in conducting in-depth research of financial, operating and analyzing, interpreting and report findings. 

This individual will partner with multiple functions and strategies within Finance, Accounting, Regulatory, Risk, Operations, Line of Business (LOB) and also will be involved in multiple strategic initiatives across the organization in parallel with all the below daily responsibilities and requirements. Domain Finance knowledge is essential in leading the analysis of highly complex business problems across all business units. This position entails identifying automation of process, and recommending business strategies based on various analysis.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the operational processes for month-end and quarterly accounting

  • Review GL and system of record data, completing research, analysis and eOne reconciliations

  • Prepare data for financial, SEC and regulatory reports

  • Perform detailed research of data and processes, analyzing, interpreting and reporting findings for the lending, deposits and trust products utilizing Excel, Access, ESSBASE/SmartView and Financial reporting systems (Eagle Web, Oracle GL, IRIS Web, OBIEE)

  • Establishing effective preventative and detective internal control’s structure to ensure accurate financial accounting and reporting

  • Partner with line of business to understand business impacts

  • Build and maintain End User Computer Tools (EUCT) and documentation

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics, financial reporting, accounting reporting or risk reporting demonstrated through work or military experience; or a BS/BA or higher in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, or Business

Desired Qualifications:

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in one or a combination of the following: Finance, Accounting or Analytics

  • An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation

  • Experience with data analytic tools (Essbase, Access and/or SQL)

  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

  • Experience using loan, deposit and trust systems to include one or more of the following: Black Knight-MSP/Fidelity, SHAW, AFS, HOGAN, SEI, Oracle Essbase, and Oracle General Ledger (GL)

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important

  • Ability to re-engineer accounting and reporting processes to gain efficiencies and to enhance controls
