Lead Risk Analytics Consultant - Fraud Risk

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Risk Analytics Consultant to join the newly formed Deposits Product Group Risk Strategy and Analytics team with dual reporting within Independent Credit Risk Management (ICRM) team of Corporate Risk. The team will play a central role in driving advanced analytics in fraud risk mitigation like graph link analysis, define standard metrics & KPIs across different channels to manage fraud risk, lead fraud policy recommendations, perform risk reward assessment for strategic initiatives, instate strong discipline to monitor and report key trends to senior executives and collaborate with internal & external stakeholders to adopt best practices across different lines of business. The role will conceptualize the reporting need, build data structures, analyze, and identify opportunities to mitigate both third & first party fraud losses in deposits & debit cards space.


In this role, you will:

  • Develop reporting needs and analytical oversight to provide management insights for Deposits and Debit Card Fraud management. This role is expected to be the SME of one of the three streams of Fraud (Digital banking fraud, Debit Card Fraud, Other Deposits Fraud)

  • Develop data structure which will allow for deep dive analytics to understand the root cause for any shifting trends

  • Drive root cause analysis and lead policy recommendations, rules, and tools to manage third party fraud using complex analytic tools and models

  • Understand the key performance drivers for each fraud loss type and partner with first line of defense to build robust monitoring framework for Fraud loss management

  • Understand the existing MIS, develop framework and architecture to enhance the monitoring, develop expertise with the team to be able to lead root cause analytics

  • Provide meaningful insights from unstructured data to key stakeholders.

  • Partner with first line of defense team to influence and challenge fraud detection and mitigation strategies

  • Perform cost benefit analysis of strategic initiatives and vendor solutions

  • Strong collaboration with the team sharing and leveraging best practices across the enterprise

  • Drive risk analytics projects independently and mentor junior analysts


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Risk Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Highly proficient in SQL, SAS, or a similar data mining and analysis language

  • Prior experience with Fraud Management and/ or Deposits business is preferred

  • Intermediate knowledge of advanced analytic tools aimed at developing strategic solutions within fraud mitigation in banking industry

  • Forward looking business knowledge on fraud risk management and ability to identity gaps in process and strategies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail; ability to interpret analytical problems and create efficient MIS solutions

  • Experience with common data visualizations tools like Tableau; ability to present compelling visual story of underlying problems & areas of opportunity to leadership

  • Ability to conceptualize and develop reporting and analytics serving stakeholder needs.

  • Excellent communicator to a variety of audiences who seek outstanding and timely results

  • Flexibility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

  • Ability to work across the matrix organization and build lasting relationships across the firm

  • Demonstrated strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities

  • Advanced expertise in MS office tools including Excel and PowerPoint
