Senior Lead Credit Risk Officer – Auto Lending Risk

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Credit Risk Officer to help lead the Collateral Risk Oversight space. This position is focused on helping the business efficiently achieve its goals while effectively managing risks across the board within the collateral policy and strategy area. This is a critical second line of defense function in the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) organization, aligned to Wells Fargo Auto.


In this role, you will:

  • Advise senior leadership to develop and implement strategies, programs and policies with a direct and significant impact on credit risk appetite
  • Lead complex initiatives including those that are cross-functional with broad impact and act as key participant in driving the company credit culture, desire, and business performance for Credit Risk
  • Review and analyze complex strategies, programs and policies with a direct and significant impact on credit risk appetite and culture
  • Monitor, assess and report on asset quality, portfolio trends and credit policy exception trends
  • Provide ongoing oversight and credible challenge of line of business credit products, programs, process and controls
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to senior leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Interact with internal and external customers to deliver desired business outcomes and collaborate with business for oversight of risk management


Required Qualifications, US:

  • 7+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or relevant quantitative field
  • Previous work experience: Financial Services, Risk Management, Fraud Management, Consulting, or other relevant experience
  • Auto lending experience preferred
  • Proficient in programming languages e.g., SAS, SQL
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Proactive delivery of desired outcomes in fast paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage effectively across the entire organization.
