Role and Department Overview

The role is for the Leader of the India Structured Products Group (SPG) that sits within the CIB (Corporate and Investment Banking) Front Office Support organization in India.  

Corporate & Investment Banking ("CIB") delivers a comprehensive suite of capital markets, banking, and financial products and services. A trusted partner to our clients, CIB provides corporate and transactional banking; commercial real estate lending and servicing; investment banking; equity; and fixed income solutions including sales, trading, and research capabilities to corporate, commercial real estate, government, and institutional clients across the globe.

Wells Fargo's Structured Products Group ("SPG"), a division in CIB, provides direct structured lending in addition to the underwriting and distribution of asset ­backed securities for clients who access the bond markets through securitizations. The SPG business includes Asset Backed Financing, ABF Sales and Trading and financing for municipal products, credit products and Institutional Finance Solutions to build out financing capabilities across the full spectrum of products.

The Inda SPG team works as an extension of the global SPG team to assist the global business across the entire spectrum of deliverables across a broad range of asset classes and covering large domestic and international clients including Corporates, NBFCs, Financial Institutions, Insurance, Mortgage and Real Estate finance and investment funds.

The CIB Portfolio Management Director is a senior leadership role leading the India SPG Team which is part of the CIB Front Office support organization.  The incumbent will lead the India SPG team and will be accountable for partnering with the U.S. SPG leadership as well as India leadership to own the strategy and delivery of the SPG team in India.   

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to -   

Functionally leading the team to ensure all core activities are delivered by the India SPG team including:

  • Providing expertise and coverage for growing the entire SPG business across the value chain. The business covers multiple asset classes and products like direct lending and capital market solutions, for Mortgage Finance, Corporate Debt and Asset backed financing.

  • Team activities include credit analysis and reviews, financial spreading,  preparation of various collateral and lending reports, reviews & analysis and analytics, and bespoke support for business priorities, besides coming up with transformation and automation solutions for enhancing efficiency

  • Identify and recommend patterns or opportunities for overall industry or macroeconomic trends and how they may impact the overall portfolio and help timely management of risks  

  • Make decisions to ensure timely deliverables and resolve operating issues, team member allocation to projects etc  

  • Interpret and develop policies and compliance requirements for timely managing any risks and opportunities identified

  • The incumbent will be overall responsible for the India SPG team, providing leadership and mentoring, performance feedback and ensure a strong, high performing team including hiring and retention of top talent   Closely collaborate with the US functional leadership stakeholders and India leadership  to develop and implement strategies that will ensure an effective delivery and value-growth of the India    team.   Communicate effectively across all levels of organization to ensure alignment with company strategy and goals Ensure that all activities of the India team are conducted in accordance with the company policies, procedures and ethical standards (including Risk, Compliance and HR policies) Lead and drive transformation-efficiency and vale growth initiatives for the team

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or CA or equivalent. CFA / FRM or an equivalent qualification an added plus.
  • At least 15 years or more of functional experience across asset classes in banking, credit analysis and underwriting, ratings analysis, portfolio management, debt research, corporate and structured finance. Experience in Structured products and familiarity with Debt Capital Market products an added plus
  • Demonstrated strategic thought leadership and in exposure in senior management strategic  presentations.
  • Proven track record in growth of a business, and growth planning and global delivery experience in a similar global setup preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience in leading a large team including senior professionals
  • Demonstrated thought leadership in transformation and automation for enhanced efficiency a must;  Change Management experience an added positive
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Proven leadership and organizational skills, articulate in communication and strong business writing skills
  • Required expertise in Powerpoint, Excel and Word.  Familiarity in BI capabilities and VBA/Macro/Python coding an added plus
  • Motivated self starter, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and ability to multitask across multiple competing deliverables in a fast paced environment.
