Lead Financial Risk Officer - Capital Adequacy Risk Oversight

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Financial Risk Officer to report to the Head of Capital Adequacy Risk Oversight. This Lead Financial Risk Officer opportunity will play an important role in Wells Fargo’s risk management effort in meeting its responsibilities as a global, systemically important financial institution by contributing to the capital adequacy oversight responsibilities of Finance Risk Management (“FRM”). This position will be a part of the Capital Adequacy Risk Oversight (“CARO”) team.


In this role, you will:

  • Provide expertise and required governance on key risk management policies associated with capital adequacy.
  • Support FRM’s oversight on quarterly capital adequacy assessments considering all financial risks to capital actions and the capital position from routine financial forecast updates.
  • Support FRM’s oversight of the annual Comprehensive Capital and Analysis Review (“CCAR”)/Capital Plan focusing primarily on capital projections and actions to support IRM’s opinion on the firm’s capital position.
  • Support FRM’s oversight of the Resolution and Recovery Plan (RRP) processes, focusing primarily on capital projections and actions.
  • Evaluate relevant capital target and triggers for appropriateness and adherence to policy.
  • Identify and escalate risk and control issues with transparency, in a timeline manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Support the development and maintenance of detailed procedures supporting critical processes that contribute to our oversight function.


Required Qualifications, US:

  • 5+ years of Financial Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.


Desired Qualifications:

  • MBA, CFA or equivalent professional certification.
  • Capital/treasury/liquidity/asset liability management experience in either a direct or support capacity.
  • Sound knowledge of banking products/services and financial markets, including capital and related key concepts (e.g., components of the capital stack, key capital measures, etc…).
  • Knowledge of SR 15-18 requirements.
  • Experience with CCAR.
  • Experience with Resolution and Recovery Planning (RRP).
  • Critical thinker with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to coordinate completion of multiple tasks and meet aggressive time frames.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures in a simple, clear, and concise manner.
  • Ability to influence, develop, partner with, and maintain collaborative relations at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, identify concerns, and appropriately challenge as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as advanced skills with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with the range and complexity of Wells Fargo’s businesses and balance sheet.

  • Ability to work at one of the approved locations in the job posting.
  • Preferred location(s) listed. Other locations within the Wells Fargo footprint may be considered for current Wells Fargo Corporate Risk employees.
  • Willingness to comply with our hybrid work model; working from a Wells Fargo facility at least three days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely two days a week.
