About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Operation Risk Manager

To oversee and independently assess the Front Line’s execution of its risk management responsibilities and Front-Line risk decisions. Additionally, responsible for aggregating risks and identifying trends across the organization and provides senior management with an independent perspective on the level of risk to which the Company is exposed across all Business Groups & Enterprise Functions.


In this role, you will:

  • Manage and develop a team of individual contributors with low to moderate complexity and risk in Compensation functional area
  • Engage stakeholders and internal partners associated with Compensation functional area
  • Manage the development, implementation, and monitoring of a risk-based program for a business or large functional area with moderate to high risk to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events
  • Maintain a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency
  • Influence operational risk and business management to identify, formulate, and implement operational risk policies, procedures, and controls for the respective business or functional area to mitigate risk
  • Provide operational risk expertise to business projects and initiatives and participates in the development of risk rating systems
  • Consult with and influence operational risk and business management to identify, formulate, and implement operational risk policies, procedures, and controls for the respective business or functional area to mitigate risk
  • Manage reporting, escalation, and timely remediation of issues, deficiencies, or regulatory matters regarding operational risk to management
  • Lead implementation of complex and strategic initiatives with moderate risk and complexity
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
  • Lead team to achieve objectives
  • Manage communication and collaboration with business heads, Legal, Audit, and regulators on risk related topics
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Operational Risk
  • Mentor and guide talent development of direct reports and assist in hiring talent


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Operational Risk experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of Leadership experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Executive level experience in Risk & Compliance managing a complex organization including senior managers & managers resources across multiple locations.
  • In depth experience in understanding and delivery of Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program expectations.
  • Strong experience in people management including building team skillsets, talent development and mentoring individuals to meet individual and organizational goals.
  • Strong planning (finance, resource, strategy, business), decision making and prioritization skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to be able to engage with senior business leaders and stateside stakeholders.
  • Highly refined and professional verbal and written communications, who can also assist in building and presenting complex topics to Executive management in multiple mediums.
  • Experience deploying automation and cognitive and science-based techniques to manage data, predict scenarios and prescribe actions, with an eye on risk & Compliance.
  • Must have solid understanding of current and future trends and practices in Banking Industry.
  • Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals across organizational boundaries to gain trust and confidence to make timely decisions.
  • Experienced in strategic design and development for enterprise scale development organizations, driving speed, stability, and quality of delivery.
  • Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives.

Additional Requirement:

  • Industry certifications from ISACA or IIA.org preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of continuous monitoring tools/detection tools/controls/processes, and ability to identify emerging risks and offer mitigations recommendations.
  • Leadership experience in a captive of international banks will be advantageous.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of reliability, integrity, and trustworthiness in all areas.
  • A seasoned, relationship-driven executive who will have the style and sensitivity to work within a highly complex business environment. Multi-cultural sensitivity a must.
  • Consultative in approach, understanding and anticipating business needs and proactively delivering solutions
