Enterprise Business Technology is responsible for supporting enterprise technology initiatives related to messaging and collaboration, risk technology, corporate systems data, and various internal systems and tools. Our services include support for database administration, data warehousing, email, Intranet, system development tools, HR systems, and General Ledger systems.

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Manager. In this role you will be responsible to lead and manage a team of Engineers. The team is responsible for ensuring the stability of products designed for Risk and Internal Audit Technology. This position provides leadership and decision-making for the team; and will work collaboratively with others to continually increase the security, efficiency of processes, and quality of service for our line of business partners, and to meet the demand of changing technologies while reducing complexity and increasing consistency in the area.

The position requires a leader who shall collaborate and consult with agile teams and product managers to drive positive outcomes using cloud native solutions and technology. This role requires a clear understanding and technical knowledge of all the components involved in the projects. Position will lead process improvements, operation efficiency, and capacity planning to meet technical and business demands. 

In this role, you will:

  • This individual will be responsible to lead the Model Registration and Validation Technology team. India team development including driving hiring, training, development and retaining of strong analytical capabilities.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
  • Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy
  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement
  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
  • Interpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
  • Collaborate with, partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices
  • Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineering
  • Hire, build and guide a culture of talent development to have the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy, as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, finance, economics, econometrics, or computer sciences
  • Overall 13+ years of IT experience with minimum 10+ experience on Software Development and 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong business partnering skills with resources across the organization in a matrix environment.
  • Experience with Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring MVC, SpringUI, ORM (Hibernate, Spring JDBC, JPA), JDBC, Spring Boot, Microservices Architecture, Messaging Services (Kafka, JMS), Workflow tools
  • Experience with UI technologies like REACT, ANGULAR, SPA etc.
  • Experience in developing Cloud native applications using Java stack or any other technology.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile
  • Strong Experience in working with global delivery teams
  • Demonstrated ability to think outside the box and design industry leading solutions
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and project management skills. Extremely good in verbal, presentation, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Good negotiation, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
  • Effective people management experience with managing managers and team members
  • Able to challenge the status quo and drive innovation by generating creative ideas and solutions
  • Keeps up to date on current research and technology in the industry
  • Tries new approaches when problem solving, seeking ideas, or suggestions from others as appropriate
  • Recognizes the importance of partnership to achieve objectives
  • Is clear when explaining ideas and concepts to others, communication is structured and easy to understand.
