About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Control Management Specialist. The Global Non-Operations Control Team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced risk and control professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment across high-risk deliverables in a transformative business environment. This role is part of a growing team that focuses on strengthening the control environment, promotes self-identification of Issues, ensures control effectiveness and sustainability, and supports early escalation of risks, concerns, and issues. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, a team first mindset, and acumen in relationship building to drive results.


In this role, you will:

  • Partner with the business to identify, assess, manage, and mitigating current and emerging risk exposures within Control Management functional area.
  • Provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and business controls.
  • Monitor moderately complex business specific programs and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area.
  • Provide guidance to business groups on the development, implementation, and monitoring of business specific programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risk.
  • Perform issue management activities across the Issues Management lifecycle to issues and corrective actions, including root cause identification, issue intake, development of corrective actions and identification of controls and in region impact, as well as any related intake and closure requirements.
  • Collaborate globally with Control teams, independent risk management and audit to ensure effective responses are provided and potential risks and concerns are addressed.


Required Qualifications:

  • Overall experience of 8+ years with 5 years of relevant experience in Financial Services industry and / or risk & control domains covering operational risk, controls testing / evaluation, compliance, internal audit, risk management etc.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher. Relevant certifications will be an advantage.
  • Operational knowledge of the Internal Control Policy
  • Perform control evaluations for moderate to complex engagements, challenge status-quo and identify opportunities to add efficiencies or refining the existing processes.
  • Engage and work with multiple stakeholders - front line business groups, risk program aligned functions and IRM teams for driving the objectives of risk and control programs.
  • Instill and drive proactive risk culture, operational excellence, and efficiencies.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills to effectively influence all organizational and leadership levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are a must.
  • Highly organized and proactive with demonstrated ability to assess, exercise independent judgment, apply prudent risk management principles, prioritize work to meet deadlines, and proactively escalate when necessary.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust plans quickly to adapt to changing business needs. Hands on style; proven ability to structure tasks or projects, execute and achieve targeted results and develop and manage associated goals and plans.
  • Intellectual curiosity with proven ability to learn quickly through others as well as to conduct their own research and analysis.
  • Ethical integrity and demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and apply prudent risk mitigation principles.
  • Prior experience as a business control management (BCM)
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high demand environment while prioritizing critical path
  • Experience assessing control design and performance through testing, audit or Risk Control Self-Assessment practices.
  • Experience assessing processes, procedures and identifying controls.
