External Communications Lead, Credit Cards

About this role:

This position will develop and execute a strategic communications program, focusing on public relations, executive advocacy, and media relations. Supporting the Cards & Merchant Services business, this position will translate business strategies into content that informs, engages, and inspires the target market. This individual will sit in Charlotte, NC; New York, NY or Washington, DC and is required to be in the office 3 days a week.  The Wells Fargo job profile is Lead Communications Consultant.


In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic counselor to Senior Leaders in Cards & Merchant Services

  • Implement external communications strategies that promote card offerings and business priorities

  • Prepare subject matter experts to respond to media inquiries

  • Write and edit press releases, key messages, media statements, Q&As, and talking points

  • Provide issues management support for media inquiries regarding Cards & Merchant Services

  • Build relationships with personal finance and consumer/lifestyle media outlets 

  • Collaborate with regional communicators and manage escalated media complaints process

  • Seek opportunities to fully leverage internal and external channels to tell and amplify our story

  • Organize product launches, and media briefings, to showcase credit card services

  • Work closely with internal partners to align messaging and ensure regulatory compliance

  • Track and measure results to ensure they are in line with intended outcomes and business objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Public Relations, Media Relations or Corporate Communications experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience executing external communications strategies and plans for credit cards

  • Experience securing broadcast and print media opportunities with national or trade media outlets

  • Experience preparing Senior Leaders for media interviews or speaking engagements

  • Experience writing stories across various social, internal, and digital channels

  • Experience building strong relationships and collaborating across large organizations

  • Experience presenting information in a manner that persuades, and influences decision makers


Office Locations & Base Pay Ranges:

  • 401 South Tryon Street - Charlotte, NC ($84,000 to $149,400)

  • 150 East 42nd Street - New York, NY ($100,800 to $179,200)

  • 1700 K Street, NW - Washington, DC ($92,400 to $164,400)

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$84,000.00 - $179,200.00
