About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Engineer


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex initiatives with broad impact and act as key participant in large scale software planning for the Technology area
  • Design, develop, and run tooling to discover problems in data and applications and report the issues to engineering and product leadership
  • Review and analyze complex software enhancement initiatives for business, operational or technical improvements that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors
  • Make decisions in complex and multi-faceted data engineering situations requiring understanding of software package options and programming language and compliance requirements that influence and lead Technology to meet deliverables and drive organizational change
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with internal partners to resolve highly risky data engineering challenges


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of application development, implementation and Support experience (JAVA)
  • experience in Data Ingestion, Data Curation, Data Extraction
  • experience in development of data pipelines/ETL for data ingestion, data preparation, data integration, data aggregation, feature engineering, etc.
  • Experience with PL-SQL scripting is required
    • strong experience in relational DBMS platforms, (DB2 or Oracle)
    • strong experience in SQL and Data Analysis
    • Strong understanding of unit testing, integration, functional and load testing.
    • Ability to conduct code reviews with a focus on testability and code coverage.
    • Should have experience working in an Agile environment using Scrum or Kanban.
    • strong experience with Hadoop
    • strong experience with Python
    • experience with Kubernetes
    • experience with Docker
    • Good knowledge of non-relational DBMS platforms, (MongoDB or Neo4j)
    • Good knowledge of real-time data streaming via Kafka
  • Database certification is preferable
  • Collaborate and consult with colleagues and managers to resolve data engineering issues and achieve strategic goals
