About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Financial Crimes Specialist, AVP within our Americas Financial Crimes Risk Management team in the Toronto office. You will report administratively to the Head of Americas Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) and be responsible for providing direct support to the Head and Deputy Head of Americas FCRM in managing the Americas FCRM Program and strategic initiatives in the Americas Region. You will work with the Canada lines of business, including Front Line Control and the Chief Operating Office, to ensure they have developed effective processes and controls to meet both corporate and/or local legal and regulatory requirements. You will provide oversight and/or support for the following areas including but not limited to: Canada financial crimes legal and regulatory subject matter expertise, guidance and oversight, projects, new products and initiatives, committee and management reporting, risk assessments, transactions monitoring, control development and refinement and assist in ensuring major requirements/controls are consistent to the extent possible.


In this role, you will:

  • Partner with the Head and Deputy Head of Americas FCRM to manage a comprehensive and unified financial crimes program across the Americas Region

  • Ensure best practice, oversight, and sound financial crimes principles are applied, while balancing the unique business profile across the Americas lines of business and functions

  • Be responsible for completing the annual transaction monitoring assessment which identifies and evaluates the monitoring and surveillance systems across the region

  • Communicate and ensure coordination with the Enterprise functions on matters and risks

  • Develop and maintain procedures and other documentation

  • Participate in credibly challenging risk assessments

  • Develop and credibly challenge financial crimes-related processes and controls

  • Assist with the management of reporting, communication, and committee processes for the Americas FCRM team, inclusive of program developments, project status, emerging risks and typologies, industry topics and collaboration activities.

  • Participate in testing and audit engagements, as required.

  • Provide materials for management updates to regulators, Internal Audit, senior governance forums, and Regional management, as required.


Required Qualifications, International:

  • 4+ years experience in Financial Crimes, Operational Risk, Fraud, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery, Corruption, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience engaged in complex AML/Financial Crimes issues across multiple international jurisdictions

  • Experience with financial crimes monitoring and surveillance activities and systems

  • Previous experience with risk and controls (ideally with risk and controls self-assessment (RCSA) framework)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members as well as regional leaders

  • Effective at building and strengthening internal and external working relationships with proven success collaborating with partners across the organization

  • Effective critical thinking skills and ability to anticipate areas of improvement

  • Ability to work on multiple project and initiatives simultaneously

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Ability to develop and manage business relationships

  • Ability to track large volumes of activities across multiple projects and groups

  • Ability to prepare presentations, management reporting, and statistical analysis

  • Strong project management skills

  • Ability to incorporate multiple data sources and develop strategies/operational processes

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills

  • Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or other recognized AML/Financial Crimes certifications
