About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer – Directory Services as part of the Innovation and Transformation (IT) team within the Secure Network Services (SNS) organization. In a collaborative environment, this Principal Engineer will lead the continued development, strategy and design of organization's directory server, network and multi-factor authentications.
In this role, you will:

Identify emerging and new products and technologies required to support new business requests requiring new features or to fill gaps with current deployed network technologies

Research and document industry best practices
-
Develop and maintain product strategy documentation
-
Provide technology overview presentations to senior leadership and technology peers
-
Develop and participate in proof of concept (POC) demonstrations at vendor sites for new products and services
-
Validate and refine high level architectural designs
-
Define design elements, Statement of Work (SOW) and help develop project plans and business cases for new technologies
-
Communicate completed development steps and action items
-
Consult with technical groups, users and/or vendors to identify and influence functional specifications and business/technical requirements
-
Propose and create conceptual network design/hardware topology and implementation methods
-
Partner with other critical support teams such as Security and Network Architecture to insure network alignment with overall strategic direction for Wells Fargo Data Centers
-
Provide guidance across many teams to drive new technology and advancements into production

Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups

Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking

Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions

Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions

Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization

Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
Required Qualifications:

7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

7+ years of Information Security applications and systems experience
-
7+ years of experience managing PingDirectory / UnboundID, Oracle Unified Directory (OUD) or a combination of both
-
7+ years directory server design and/or administration experience in a complex application environment
Desired Qualifications:

10+ years of network/network security engineering experience

5+ years of technical documentation experience
-
5+ years of experience with multi-factor authentication
-
3+ years of experience with cloud environments [includes public, private, and hybrid cloud: cloud security concepts: containerizations and Kubernetes]

3+ years of experience with automating processes and administrative tasks

Experience in evaluating other brands of Directory Server (such as OUD, IBM Tivoli Identity Manager, RedHat Directory, etc.)

Ability to make audit-related assessments, document changes needed, deploy feasible audit-related changes

Experience in Kanban or Scrum Agile environments

Experience with GitHub, Ansible automation and orchestration (or similar tools including Chef or Puppet), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)

Experience with monitoring and data analysis tools such as Splunk

Demonstrated technical ability to make performance/tuning recommendations for directory
-
Demonstrated ability to document procedures for other engineers to follow

Excellent communication skills working with development, production and application teams for multiple lines of business

Excellent troubleshooting skills to address real-time production issues and restore service from an operations stand-point

Experience with information security and risk management including policy and standards, information security assessment, security best practices, and mitigation solution design and implementation

Strategic planning experience in translating leadership vision into executable strategies and initiatives
