In this role, you will:

Developing, maintaining and enhancing an effective compliance infrastructure in Japan (WFBNA Tokyo Branch and WFSJ) to accommodate applicable regulatory requirements; and mitigate regulatory and compliance risks

Implementing and administering compliance control systems and procedures and monitoring programmes for all “Corporate and Investment Banking business” activities, discussing findings or issues and remedial action with business lines
-
Undertaking ad hoc issue escalation and periodic reporting to senior management
-
Providing comprehensive compliance advisory support in current and new business initiatives and rationalization of businesses in WFBNA Tokyo Branch and WFSJ

Interacting with regulatory authorities with respect to licensing, ongoing conduct requirements and new business initiatives; leading in the management of internal audits and external regulatory exams

Developing and delivering compliance training to enhance awareness and knowledge of applicable laws and regulatory requirements

Collaborating and partnering closely and effectively with regional and global Compliance in APAC, EMEA and US to deliver the compliance program and desired outcome.

Managing a compliance team to maximise support capacity for the WFBNA Tokyo Branch and WFSJ
-
Supporting Reg Relations as its delegate for interacting/managing with local regulators and authorities.
Required Qualifications:
-
4+ years of Compliance experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

2+ years of Leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
-
Relevant university degree and minimum of ten years of relevant experience such as regulatory, financial crime, and operational
risk management gained in an international financial centre.

Legal and regulatory background viewed advantageously
-
Work experience in double-hatting or interlocked environment is also a plus
-
Excellent up-to-dated knowledge of banking and securities
laws and regulations in Japan including Banking Act, KYC Law, Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Law, etc. and Company Act are a must.

Some familiarity with banking and bank holding company laws and regulations in US desirable

Sound understanding of the operation of international financial markets, regulatory oversight, risk management and corporate governance

Good understanding of full service global financial institution and knowledge of financial products desirable

Ability to identify compliance and operational risk and advise on, develop and implement suitable policies and procedures to effectively monitor and mitigate compliance risk

Ability to identify and advise business line management of changes in the regulatory and compliance environment and design and implement appropriate compliance solutions

Ability to influence stakeholders outside immediate area of control

Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills; confident to communicate proactively and effectively with
peers, senior management, and regulators
