  • Main function of the job:

    Wells Fargo provides middle market, large corporate and financial institution customers with a range of international solutions, including treasury management, credit, payments, financing, foreign exchange, and trade services. Wells Fargo operates from 42 countries and territories outside of the U.S., including subsidiaries and branches in Ireland, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Canada, and France.

    The International Controller team is responsible for a range of regulatory, financial, and management reporting requirements aligned to legal entities based outside the United States.

    Working within the International Controllers Team, this role supports the development & maintenance of a robust control environment across both the international region as part of a group of regional control leads, and also more directly in the Chennai location.

    Responsibilities include issue management support and guidance, oversight of local control activity including quality assurance testing where necessary, assessment and communication of risks, and provision of control related advice and guidance to International Controller team members.

3.            Responsibilities:

Looking for Governance and Control professionals with experience in RCSA Controls and handling emerging errors with 8-12 years of experience at Chennai location

  • Responsible for overall management and coordination of the control agenda impacting Controllers based in Chennai, acting as a clear point of ownership for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in governance supporting effective management & oversight of the risk management & control agenda across International Controllers.
  • Provision of risk & control information as necessary to support the role of the International Controllers Chennai Lead.
  • Support ongoing development/maintenance of a robust and comprehensive control framework within the International Controllers function, including via mandated RCSA activity.
  • Carry out testing on control activity performed within the team to provide Chennai and International management with comfort on status and compliance with relevant policies & expectations.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to maintain a clear view on best-in-class control principles, and regulatory expectations – work with control leads and management across the International region to identify gaps against those expectations, and drive remediation where necessary.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders charged with managing the firmwide control agenda (including stakeholders across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines of defence), and act as the initial point of contact/subject matter expert for control related matters impacting the Chennai location.
  • Support the ongoing digital transformation agenda within the EMEA Controller function, as a way of mitigating operational risk, ensuring that key control principles are embedded at the heart of automation and efficiency efforts.
  • Support the International Controller team in management of external reviews (i.e. Internal Audit and similar) both via preparation ahead of the review activity, and also supporting/coordinating engagement with the external team during the review period.
  • Support and coordinate management of control weaknesses in line with bank protocols, including assessing, recommending and supporting remediation for all identified issues in line with agreed timelines.
  • Support development of a ‘best-in-class’ International Controller team, and by extension the International Controllers organization by aligning to key principles and priorities set by the International Controller.

5.            Skills/Experience Required:

  • CA/CS/ICWA with 7+ years’ experience
  • Understanding of best-in-class expectations in respect of risk mitigation and control activity.
  • Appreciations of the risks associated with financial and regulatory reporting activity, and the types of controls required to mitigate.
  • Experience of performing testing and/or review activity, ideally in a finance or finance related function.
  • Understanding of the type of work typically carried out with a legal entity aligned Financial Controller team.
  • Self-motivated/proactive approach, with the ability to work independently within a team structure.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present concisely and accurately.
  • Fast learner with an inquisitive mindset and good problem solving skills.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of digital tools such as Alteryx, MS365, Workiva and similar considered an advantage.
