Enterprise Payments Lead Strategy Consultant

About this role:

Wells Fargo’s Enterprise Payments Strategy Team is looking for an Enterprise Payments Lead Strategy Consultant to support the development and execution of the bank's payments strategy, encompassing Consumer, Small Business and Commercial clients, with consideration for Real-Time Payments and other emerging payments innovations, and including tasks such as assessing market forces, evaluating competitive offerings and uncovering opportunities to develop a differentiated market perception for payments innovation and leadership.

In this position, you will support strategic initiatives which have prioritization from the highest levels of the organization, tackle intricate, cross-functional projects, and contemplate payments innovations with the potential to amplify Wells Fargo’s payments offerings for customers. In this role, you will:

  • Support the delivery of critical, payments analysis and updates to senior leaders regarding prioritized payments initiatives and objectives

  • Manage the development and maintenance of competitive analysis and market research for payment offerings

  • Conduct data-driven analysis via work with data analytics teams, financial modeling, internal / external customer surveys and desktop research

  • Work with business and strategy leaders, product teams and other functions to identify and define client needs and emerging trends

  • Identify and recommend key strategic EPS initiatives/investments that will monitor and grow Wells Fargo's payments business (e.g., scorecard)

  • Lead cross-functional projects and define priorities; ensure scope, timelines and budgets are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate or escalate as needed

  • Rigorously manage all aspects of the project lifecycle including firm and transparent engagement with business partners to meet commitments / milestones and tracking

  • Resolve issues and achieve project goals via collaboration with managers, stakeholders, scrum masters, legal team, delivery team and other stakeholders

  • Translate regulatory requirements and strategy into an executable plan at a level of detail that allows teams to understand what is critical at any one time, proactively identify and mitigate risks, and exploit meaningful opportunities for acceleration (e.g., MSP project plan, risk and opportunity playbooks, scenario evaluation and business case development)

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to risk policy non-conformance, procedures, and implementation process

  • Identify trends to assess adequacy of internal controls and compliance with company policies, state and federal laws and regulations

  • Support / lead strategic sessions to synthesize roadmaps / business objectives across LOBs to align business visions and roadmaps with overarching Enterprise Strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Strategy and Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 3+  years of management consulting experience at a top-tier consulting firm

  • 3+ years of payments / transaction related experience (e.g., commercial banking, bank consulting projects, merchant services, digital banking)

  • Knowledge and understanding of payments regulatory requirements and potential impacts on financial institutions (e.g., CFPB Section 1033 Proposed Rulemaking)

  • 3+ years of Project Management, project development/implementation, strategic planning, process management, change delivery experience, or equivalent

  • 3+ years of experience supporting multiple large-scale projects

  • Competence with modern requirement management tools like JIRA, Confluence

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in related field (e.g., finance, management, MBA) 

  • Knowledge and understanding of product or program management: development of roadmaps, strategies, and management of products ranging from concepts in ideation through to market delivery

  • Leadership skills including the ability to influence effectively in a matrix environment

  • Experience owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally at all levels including executives, regulators, managers, and SMEs

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and deploy soft-skills to move work forward despite challenges

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy with ability to evaluate data and draw meaningful business conclusions

  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

  • Thrives in fast-paced agile, dynamic environment and can track multiple, complex projects simultaneously

  • Adapts to changing priorities and excels in ambiguous scenarios with a mindset to continue moving forward

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint

Job Expectations:

  • This role does not offer visa sponsorship

  • Relocation expenses will not be offered with this position

  • Candidates must be willing to work on site in either Charlotte, NC or New York City, NY

Pay Range for New York City, NY: $133,300 - $237,100 annual base salary. This role is also eligible for discretionary bonus.
