About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Operational Risk Officer

To oversee and independently assess the Front Line’s execution of its risk management responsibilities and Front Line risk decisions. Additionally, responsible for aggregating risks and identifying trends across the organization and provides senior management with an independent perspective on the level of risk to which the Company is exposed  across all Business Groups & Enterprise Functions


In this role, you will:

  • Provide companywide oversight and governance of an integrated operational risk program or initiative
  • Develop and drive innovative operational risk approaches and solutions companywide through an influence model
  • Identify potential business operational risks
  • Develop and drive innovative operational risk approaches and solutions companywide through an influence model
  • Constructively and independently challenge existing risk management fundamentals or assumptions and develop alternative approaches and solutions
  • Evaluate long term implications and consequences of strategic business decisions and recommend appropriate alternatives for risk management
  • Lead implementation of complex initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines
  • Consult to the business on corrective action plans and effectively managing change
  • Influence and negotiate with executive management and business heads as high-level stakeholders both within and outside Wells Fargo
  • Lead initiatives and virtual teams across the organization to deliver companywide business risk management transformations
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Lead project or virtual teams and mentor less experienced staff


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 18+ years of experience in Risk & Compliance, operational risk management (includes Risk/Audit, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; of which 10+ years Operational Risk management.
  • In depth experience in understanding and delivery of Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program expectations.
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise policies and programs to link multiple priorities, insights, draw thematic views to enhance risk culture.
  • Ability to contribute to success of the team objectives through collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand environment while prioritizing work and balancing multiple priorities
  • Lead implementation of complex and strategic transformation initiatives including deployment of workflow solutions and automation to consistency enhance process efficiency
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to draw conclusions and translate findings from complex data
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and creative problem solving techniques
  • Experience in Governance, reporting and Insights

Job Expectations:

  • Knowledge and understanding of continuous monitoring tools/detection tools/controls/processes, and ability to identify emerging risks and offer mitigations recommendations
  • Experience with Risk Appetite Metric and Key Indicator programs
  • Experience with Operational Risk Event (ORE) assessment process
  • Experience with Enterprise Risk Identification (ERID) assessment process
  • Experience with Tableau and other visualization tools, with the ability to incorporate a visual data story into an actionable narrative for executive audience
  • Knowledge of SHRP and other risk systems
  • Experience in establishing and managing training programs
  • Ability to review and develop work plans and effectively summarize results
