About the role:

The USD Rates Trading group is searching for a Tokyo based US Dollar Rates Trader to make markets in USD rates product during the APAC trading session.

The USD Rates Trading group is a global team that prices all US Dollar derivatives and Cash Instruments, including IR Swaps, Options, Futures, Inflation Bonds and Swaps, GSE’s & SSSA’s and Off the run/ On the Run Treasuries. Activity is conducted over both Voice and Electronic Channels.

The candidate will have extensive knowledge of the U.S. rates products and experience in pricing and risk managing activities in APAC markets.  Additionally, knowledge of the structure of different electronic trading platforms and their use as tools to service clients and risk manage portfolios is required.  The role will require active engagement with the global rates team to continually enhance the technology infrastructure used for pricing and risk.  

In this role, you will:

  • Responsible for facilitating the growth of the Macro division within APAC with a focus on US cash and Interest Rate Derivative Products.  
  • Pricing and risk management of client and internal transactions.  
  • Actively engage sales teams to drive the US rates franchise forward in region as well as active marketing of WF capabilities.
  • Analysis of client flows; development of tools that measure and analyze Desk performance.
  • Quickly and accurately disseminate market relevant information and produce commentary on a regular basis that focuses on trading opportunities for clients and internal partners.
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions for client objectives.
  • Candidate must be comfortable managing their own risk as well as working in a global book framework. 
  • Operate within an organization with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company.
  • Accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation, and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions.
  • There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Securities Trading experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of the US rates markets including nominal UST, TIPS, GSEs, SSA, and Interest Rate Swaps and Experience in Fixed Income trading in APAC region.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate and write market commentary for both internal and external client bases. Strong analytic skills and the ability to interact with all levels of an organization.
  • Prepared to work on a diverse range of projects which may include all risk asset classes within the securities division.
  • Willingness to travel to visit clients on a frequent basis.
  • University degree
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and preferably Japanese as well.
  • JSDA Sales Representative Class 1 licensed (preferred)
