Head of Liquidity Operations - Payment Services

The Role

The Payment Services Head of Liquidity Operations will be responsible to lead existing operations that support key top of house affiliate, external financial institution and clearing platform accounts.   In addition, the role will define and execute key strategies and capabilities on payment prioritization at the product, channel and Client level.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and develop teams of individual contributors and managers in roles with moderate work complexity and risk in the Operations functional area
  • Work with more experienced management to develop and execute business strategies
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development within the Operations functional area
  • Develop and implement business unit strategies
  • Provide expertise for technical, operational and processing functions related to business unit
  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions of Operation management functional team to meet moderate to high risk deliverables
  • Interpret and develop policies and procedures for functions with moderate complexity within scope of responsibility across business lines or functional areas
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
  • Lead team to achieve objectives
  • Engage and influence stakeholders, internal partners and peers associated with the function or affected by its outcomes
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Operations
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

This leader will have strong Executive presence, leadership skills, the ability to approach business problems with creativity, and who works in an inclusive and influential manner to empower the broader team.  

The ideal candidate will have robust experience of banking operations, payment and settlement systems, cash flows and settlements for banks as well as experience managing payment prioritization and executing liquidity strategy.  

  • Deep understanding of payment flows, payment rails and liquidity impacts.
  • Deep understanding of settlements with Financial Market Utilities (Fed, CHIPS, EPN, ACH, FedNow, RTP)
  • Deep understanding with Wells Fargo core payment processing applications and up and down stream systems.
  • Understanding of Liquidity regulations (Dodd Frank, SR 14-1 and others)

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • 5+ year experience in large financial services organization
  • 5+ years of assessing and managing risks and controls
  • BS in Finance, Computer / Data Science or other analytical discipline


Desired Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • Experience in transforming while operating a critical function.
  • 5+ years experience with Payment functions
  • 3+ year experience in driving change at large organizations Top tier Strategy and/or Management Consulting experience
  • Extensive experience within financial services industry, and preferably will have worked in a similar role.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with a focus on delivery management.
  • Strong multi-tasking capabilities.
  • A clear and concise communication style that can simplify the complex and ensure a common understanding can be quickly reached.
  • Confidence to meet with the most senior leaders of Wells Fargo and represent Wholesale Operations.
  • Strong analysis skills to get to the core of issues.
  • High EQ to help influence a broad constituency of stakeholders
