About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Software Engineer (Quality Engineering and Controls) in Enterprise Functions Technology’s Quality Engineering group. The mission of the Quality Engineering (QE) team is to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products by implementing and maintaining a robust framework for automated testing, continuous integration, and quality assurance practices across the development lifecycle. The team aims to proactively identify and resolve defects, ensuring that the organization delivers reliable, scalable, and secure solutions.

The ideal candidate will lead software code quality improvement initiatives and software development lifecycle (SDLC) controls adoption across application teams in Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) portfolio.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, focusing on enhancing code quality and ensuring adherence to best practices
  • Drive enterprise initiatives geared towards code quality and application security
  • Oversee adoption of software quality gates, SDLC controls, and enterprise pipeline automation
  • Design, develop and maintain automated tools and scripts to enforce code quality and compliance with established standards
  • Monitor key metrics and OKRs related to code quality, identify trends and areas of improvement
  • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the development teams


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of coding experience in programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript frameworks
  • 3+ years of experience working in SCRUM or other Agile methodologies
  • 3+ years of experience with databases like SQL Server, Oracle, or Mongo etc.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Expertise in SDLC best practices including code reviews, testing, and debugging
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and pipeline automation
  • Experience with Cloud based development and deployment environments
  • Proficiency with static code analysis tools (e.g. SonarQube) and Quality Gates implementation
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding software engineering teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Teamworking abilities to collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
