Senior DevOps Engineer

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer within the Enterprise Database Management (EDM) team to lead the team’s efforts in the design, development, automated testing, implementation, and adoption of products to drive the delivery of applications, microservices, private cloud, SQL statements, messaging, scheduling, and database infrastructure in support of our Database Compliance & Risk project initiatives.

As a member of our team, you will launch new code builds and Continuous Delivery and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) deployments utilizing Jenkins and GitHub repositories while using Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) to pursue additional Kubernetes container and orchestration solutions for hosting new application components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Automate and maintain the delivery of internally-developed Microservices, single-application user interface (UI) and legacy applications currently being rewritten to new application architecture, including the automation of infrastructures, application deployments, maintenance, and compliance tasks

  • Utilize DevOps practices including CI/CD, automation, infrastructure orchestration, and cloud service delivery 

  • Develop, configure, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to facilitate rapid deployment and testing of code

  • Support and automate system compliance with federal compliance frameworks 

  • Lead new projects and initiatives, driving them to completion within required deadlines 

  • Collaborate with software engineers to help design and develop deployment automation capabilities for new products 

  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior team members.

  • Troubleshoot issues across the entire application stack

In this role, you will:

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments

  • Contribute to large scale planning of strategies

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments

  • Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures

  • Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients’ needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals

  • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 4+ years of DevOps experience

  • 3+ years of development experience with languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or R

  • 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins

  • 3+ years of experience with Cloud technologies/Kubernetes/Containers

  • 3+ years of GitHub experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of leadership experience including coaching, training and mentoring

  • Experience working with Ansible playbooks

  • Experience working with Microservices architecture and event streaming architecture

  • Experience working with monitoring and logging services

  • Experience working in an Agile product environment with scrum ceremonies

  • Experience with control application log collection and analysis

  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations, including a deep dive, into reliability and scaling issues from both a code and infrastructure perspective

  • Knowledge and understanding of issues or change management processes

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex material to a diverse audience

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology
