Senior Network Engineer

About Role:

DDI team is focused on providing engineering design, implementation and second level support of core network services throughout the corporate network. These core network services include the Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service, and Network Time Protocol (NTP) service. DDI Provisioning provide IP address management, domain registration and first level support for DNS, DHCP and NTP services across Wells Fargo.

DDI team is seeking a Senior Network Engineer, who will be an individual contributor engineers to deliver the engineering and support activities for Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service, and Network Time Protocol (NTP) service.

In this role, you will:

  • Work as a member of a geographically diverse team of Internet technology experts to administer and maintain large-scale technology solutions that provide critical foundational network services utilizing numerous advanced technologies across a global enterprise environment.
  • Providing technical update to the leadership for all engineering, automation development and provisioning activities
  • Partner with our Engineering peers to design and engineer robust connectivity and service solutions that emphasize security and network management best practices.
  • Respond to break/fix issues concerning DDI systems and the applications that rely on them, performing technical diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution for intermediate to complex data communications issues.
  • Provide technical expertise for support and resolution of production problems, always seeking to identify root cause and prevent future recurrence.
  • Provide support and maintenance assistance for a constellation of production Infoblox appliances and DNS servers that provide DDI services to the enterprise.
  • Partners directly with Domestic Technical Lead Engineer and liaison for infrastructure architecture (IA)/ line of business
  • Participate in Major Projects as a Technical Lead
  • Provide solutions analysis and consulting services to several internal Lines of Business, including other technology teams as well as customer-facing business units, for the purpose of provisioning DDI services in support of revenue-generating and revenue-supporting applications and other technology systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation including functional requirements, technical designs, network diagrams, workflow diagrams, application communications diagrams, configuration documents, support documentation, procedural documentation, training materials, and some project documents. Participate in vendor support relationships and take an active role in facilitating the exchange of information between vendors and Wells Fargo in order to improve the technologies.
  • Participate in audit and compliance activities, always seeking to ensure that our technology systems and human processes comply with regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Work primarily during business hours and on-call work with occasional after-hours.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Overall 7 + years of experience and ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed environment
  • Consults with technical groups, users and/or vendors to identify and influence functional specifications and business/technical requirements.  Proposes and creates conceptual network design/hardware reconfiguration and implementation methods.  Plans and oversees network studies and traffic analyses.  Oversees forecasts of network traffic and capacity.  Design work is creative, unique, sophisticated and complex.
  • Provides updates to the service catalog and add certified new equipment to release procurement for network engineers to order
  • 5+ years of experience in managing the engineering staff of DDI (Data Name Services (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration (DHCP), & IP Address Management (IPAM)) systems and Time Services (NTP/PTP), all of which are foundational technology systems that exist at the core of Wells Fargo’s network with the ability to affect customer-facing application systems and critical business functions across the enterprise. 
  • Good knowledge of Agile methodologies and Kanban principles
  • Conduct technical investigation of security-related incidents, and conduct post-incident digital forensics to identify causes and recommend future mitigation strategies
  • Expertise in global service delivery in information security domain
  • Effective verbal, presentation, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Good negotiation, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
  • Industry certification like DDIP or any core DDI certification.
  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Management disciplines

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advance DDIP skill and experience in US Banking organizations
  • Experience with implementing/deploying advanced DDI technologies including DNSSEC, Anycast, and IPv6.
  • 1 + Years Infrastructure automation script development using Unix Shell, Ansible, Python, YAML
  • 1 + Years of experience developing and using RESTful Application Program Interface (API)
  • 1 + Years of experience with source coding in one or a combination of the following: GitHub, SVN, SVN, TFVC or TFSGit
  • Must be organized and have rigorous attention to detail.
