Executive Director - Senior Rates Trader

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Rates Trader based in London to make markets during the European trading session. The Global Rates Trading group prices all Rates derivatives and Cash Instruments, including IR Swaps, Options, Inflation Swaps and Off the run and On the Run Treasuries. Activity is conducted over both Voice and Electronic Channels.

In this role, you will:

  • Senior risk taker responsible for market-making  swaps.

  • Assist Sales team in acquiring, maintaining and growing client relationships.

  • Work closely with the Global Macro Sales and Trading teams to ensure that clients receive the best possible service and pricing and that risk is effectively risk managed on a global basis.

  • Help develop a framework and technological solutions that allows the business to scale to servicing a global Instituional client base.

  • Operate within an organisation with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company.

  • They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues as well as  making sound risk decisions.

  • There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Securities Trading, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills

  • Established relationships with Issuers and Institutional Clients

  • Outstanding knowledge of Interest rate products

  • Candidate must be comfortable managing their own risk as well as working in a global book framework

  • They must possess a strong working knowledge of the Global rates markets including nominal UST, TIPS, GSEs, SSA, and Interest Rate Swaps

  • Strong communication skills and an ability to communicate and write market commentary for both internal and external client bases

  • Familiarity with EMEA protocols for derivatives trading and all aspects of LIBOR cessation.  Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

  • Local EMEA Licenses, NFA AP  and Series 7 & 63 Licensed preferable

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, a desire and ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners

  • Undergraduate degree is a minimum requirement and post grad desired

Desired Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will be familiar with the EMEA customer franchise, and be a willing partner with the local sales team, engaging with customers in order to grow the existing franchise

  • Willingness to travel to visit clients on a frequent basis

Job Expectations:

This position is deemed to be a Certified Person function under the FCA and PRA Certification Regime. You must at all times remain fit and proper to perform your role, and this will be assessed on at least an annual basis
