Wells Fargo is looking to hire a Consumer Loan Underwriter in our Line Management Team within the Home Equity Lending Management Operations Department (HELMO). At Wells Fargo, we strongly believe in responsible lending principles and we know that a changing economy or unexpected events may affect our borrower's financial status. Because of this, Wells Fargo conducts account reviews of home equity lines of credit to ensure that the credit limit on the account is in line with a borrower's current financial condition.

Roles & Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, approving and underwriting large, unusual or complex individual consumer requests and products within company and industry guidelines.

Dependent on division and complexity of underwriting tasks, functions may include:
•Reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and applicable ratios (i.e. Debt ratios, loan-to-value).
•Evaluating and examining transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
•Preparing formal reports for review.
•Ensuring that documents are consistent and uphold to company and industry guidelines.
•Implementing fraud detection techniques, performing compliance reviews.
•Assisting with re-negotiations of loans based on lending guidelines.

**The selected candidate will be reporting to our Hillsboro, OR Servicing site. This position will offer the ability to work remote within a commutable distance of the listed Wells Fargo Servicing sites. Site locations are listed on the job posting.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of underwriting experience

  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong analytical skills including analyzing complex data
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience articulating issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of staff and management
  • Experience analyzing accounting principles, tax returns, and business and personal financial statements
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to underwrite to multiple underwriting policies and procedures simultaneously
  • Home Equity and/or Line Management department experience to include income and tax return analysis, knowledge of the various property valuation products and title review

Job Expectations

  • This position requires compliance with all mortgage regulatory requirements and Wells Fargo's compliance policies related to these requirements including acceptable background check investigation results. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and required reporting of certain incidents.

The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.
