The CLG team includes Home Lending, Personal Loans and Lines, Direct Auto, Dealer Services, Commercial Auto, Retail Services and Education Financial Services including the professional services teams that partner with these businesses and other key partners.

Our Consumer Credit Solutions (CCS) Unsecured Credit Risk team manages the credit quality of the unsecured CCS portfolios, partnering with Consumer Financial Services, Education Financial Services and Retail Services from origination through account management and authorizations to collections.

The Consumer Credit Card Acquisitions Risk area has an exciting and visible opportunity for an experienced risk management professional to manage multiple initiatives regarding initial line assignment strategy development and optimization. This leader will develop various strategies and conduct ongoing research and proactively enhance strategy efficiency.


This leader will:
•Manage initial credit line assignment strategies and policies for various business segments to assure profitable growth while minimizing credit/operating losses and other risk exposures with ability to adapt to changing economic/regulatory environments
•The selected individual will be responsible for evaluating and sizing the opportunities, prioritizing work, building the business case, managing credit exposure risk at the product and customer level, communicating effectively with different audience groups
•Engage Partners including various credit, finance, marketing, compliance and product groups
•The desired manager will be self-motivated and have strong interpersonal skills in order to actively lead and implement ideas in a cross-functional team environment
•Train, develop, and motivate staff to be line of business and industry leaders
•Monitor and track various strategies and tests to ensure effectiveness and disciplines of risk management
•Demonstrate strong working knowledge of regulations including CARD Act, FCRA, FRL, data security, etc. and be an advocate for Wells Fargo risk culture statement



Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of risk experience
  • 2+ years of management experience
  • 7+ years of consumer lending experience
  • 3+ years of credit risk experience
  • 5+ years of SQL or SAS experience
  • A BS/BA degree or higher

This leader will demonstrate a track record of success in managing credit risk functions in the financial services industry. Leadership, relationship management, and credibility will be determining factors in selection. Successful candidates will be articulate and possess a demonstrated leadership capability; they will have strong inter-personal effectiveness. This leader must be an exceptional leader and will be recognized for accomplishments related to hiring, retaining, and developing a world-class staff.

Specifically, we seek:

  • A seasoned risk management leader with at least 7 years of increasing responsibility within a Consumer Lending industry
  • 3+ years of management experience in a credit risk function, with demonstrated ability to engage, motivate, and reward direct reports through their work successes
  • Proven experience in building partnerships, collaborating and influencing at senior levels and across business and functions
  • Relationship building and ability to drive decision making through a consensus building approach
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating to address concerns and solve problems
  • Demonstrated excellence at developing sound credit processes, and when needed, evaluating and enhancing existing processes
  • A strong and effective manager and leader, capable of attracting, mentoring, retaining and promoting talented and productive staff
  • Dedicated, enthusiastic, driven and performance-oriented; possesses a strong work ethic
  • Effectively and constructively lead change in an organization
