Market Job Description

Responsibilities:
The Relationship Manager (RM) works within the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) of Wells Fargo’s Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) division and is responsible for managing a portfolio of a designated group of banks and diversified financials clients, that require financial services and products to meet their needs. In addition to being the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for the clients, the RM is accountable for retaining and deepening existing relationships, managing risk and driving relationship profitability and customer satisfaction. The RM develops strong customer relationships, balanced with strong risk management and compliance driven engagement in driving and delivering the overall relationship strategy by collaborating with credit, risk and key product partners.

Business Development

  • Establish strong existing relationships with CIB FIG’s Korean clients with strong product knowledge covering all CIB products and credit skills.
  • Align & execute strategies and business objectives to better serve clients, compete in the marketplace and optimize growth, profitability, and returns.
  • Grow and maintain a group of assigned relationships through a proactive, strategic and consistent business development, client retention, and prospecting relationship management effort.
  • Have strong leadership in providing support to Head of Financial Institutions Group, Korea to coach and enable team members to provide best-in-class service and guidance that will help our customers succeed financially

Compliance Risk Management


  • Commit to a culture which firmly establishes compliance risk management as a discipline critical to our success and the success of our customers
  • Ensure compliance with Know-Your-Client (KYC) documentation and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) / Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies and procedures in order to effectively mitigate and manage risks.
  • Collaborate extensively with CIB FIG Business Risk team, APAC Compliance and other areas responsible for risk support and oversight.
  • Ensure compliance with Wells Fargo expense policies and procedures including Global Anti-Corruption policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant local laws and regulations in Korea and all relevant US laws.
Credit Risk Management

  • Oversee the credit risk associated with assigned relationships; review and endorse credit requests; oversee the effective management of counterparty limits and use market intelligence to capitalize on opportunities and avoid pitfalls in managing bank and country risk.
  • Possess a diverse experience across a range of banking sector and have a sound knowledge of Macro economy and credit risk management in country
Product Partner Engagement
  • Develop and execute account plans to define Wells Fargo’s holistic objectives for assigned clients and prospects.
  • Collaborate effectively with other Wells Fargo groups to meet holistic revenue targets, execute business plans, implement new business, and retain existing business. Key product partners include Global Payment Services, International Trade Services, Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Wells Fargo Securities (WFS) and Wells Fargo Asset Management, among others.

Market Skills and Certifications

  • University degree
  • Minimum 10 years banking experience, including at least 7 years of financial institutions coverage experience and/or relevant product experience as it applies to Financial Institutions.
  • Able to build strong existing relationships with CIB FIG’s Korean clients.
  • Strong product knowledge covering all CIB products and credit skills.
  • Possess a diverse experience across a range of banking sector and have a sound knowledge of Macro economy and credit risk management in country
  • Strong knowledge/experience in compliance and regulations. Sound understanding of compliance policy and risk, especially KYC, BSA and AML risk.
  • Superior hands-on knowledge of Korean Financial Institutions relationships, market dynamics, macroeconomic and political circumstances.
  • Working knowledge of correspondent banking products and solutions.
  • Working knowledge of treasury, asset management and/or capital markets products and services.
  • Sound understanding of counterparty and country credit risk and relevant credit risk products.
  • Proven track record of marketing transaction products and service.
  • Fluency in English (oral, reading and writing).
