Wealth and Investment Management (WIM) is one of the company’s four main divisions. WIM businesses build enduring client relationships through sound, thoughtful and objective advice. We help our clients by developing individualized plans for everything from retirement goals to business succession planning, to family legacy intentions. Services include comprehensive planning and advice, investment management, brokerage, private banking, estate planning strategies, trust, insurance and both individual and institutional retirement.

Abbot Downing: Abbot Downing is a boutique business within Wells Fargo that serves individuals and families with investable assets of at least $50 million or net worth of $100 million, as well as their endowments and foundations. Abbot Downing strives to build long-standing relationships by helping clients preserve and grow wealth, address the impact of wealth across generations and leave a legacy of purpose.

The Performance Analyst role is a member of the Performance Reporting team, a central team within Abbot Downing Support Services, dedicated to provide client investment performance reporting solutions serving Abbot Downing Investment teams nationally. 

Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing investment performance results for use in reports for clients, family offices, consultants and internal management.  Verify accuracy of portfolio and benchmark performance results including monitoring performance trends.  Identify performance issues and resolve veers quickly following performance guidelines in adherence to risk and compliance rules.  Respond to client requests and conduct research as required to satisfy inquiries.  Partner with investment teams to provide holistic reporting solutions for complex account structures which often include customized reporting solutions.  Provide strong leadership with partners and peers, including guidance and support for less experienced team members.  May perform special projects as well as provide support to larger strategic initiatives directed by manager.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of performance analysis experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience driving for results, applying a sense of urgency, and bringing issues to closure in a decisive manner despite obstacles and opposition
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) skills
  • Experience with analytical systems such as: Morningstar, Lipper, Zephyr, SimFund, Performance Evaluation Software such as: Callan PEP, eVestment Alliance, Mercer MPA, Mobius M-Search, Portfolio Evaluation Databases such as: FactSet, Baseline, MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Client Databases such as: Coates Analytics
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective organizational, multi tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels; where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of broker-dealer channel
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in business administration, economics, accounting, finance, or other business related field

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience initiating and completing client Investment Performance reports including verifying data as well as identifying and resolving performance issues
  • Experience using performance systems such as Performer, Performance IQ, First Rate or similar systems using an open architecture platform
  • Previous experience working with ultra-high net worth clients
  • Demonstrated  experience to independently research and resolve performance discrepancies 
  • Performance experience across diversified asset allocation including hedge funds and private investments
  • Proven relationship building and collaboration skills with the ability to engage and influence business partners
