About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an experienced Agency or Government Mortgage Underwriter with extensive income analysis and cash-flow experience to join the National Decisioning Support Team within Home Lending. The National Decisioning Support Team (NDS) is a team responsible for performing comprehensive income, assets, and credit reviews of customers with complex profiles. This individual will complete enhanced authority and path of assistance reviews and collaborate closely with internal partners on a variety of transactions ranging in complexity. In this role, you will:
Review and analyze federal personal, business and trust tax returns, interim financial statements (profit & loss/balance sheets), Schedule of Real Estate Owned, Trusts, paystubs/W-2s, asset statements, and other income documentation for customers who own a significant number of businesses and/or rental properties.
Complete income tools to assist them in calculating income (internal Income Analysis Tool via the WF intranet and other Excel based tools), update the application system (CORE) with the income reviewed, perform a write-up detailing the income analysis performed, and updating loan conditions on the home lending application.
Discuss the credit underwriting analysis with internal partners (i.e. underwriters, processors, sales) and at times with external parties (CPAs/Bookkeepers, CFOs, Customers).
Be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, approving, and underwriting routine individual consumer requests and products with few deviations and within company and industry guidelines
Review credit applications, credit bureau information, collateral valuation, tax returns, financial statements, and or other supporting documentation to recommend or approve requests within deaccessioning authority levels by way of automated scoring system or traditional underwriting
Assist with the calculations and preparation of reports for review
Respond to customer inquiries and credit decisions
Ensure credit files are current, complete, and compliant with company standards
Contact internal business partners (i.e. underwriters, processors, sales) to gather information to make appropriate decisions, and explain rationale behind credit decisions
Present recommendations for resolving situations and exercise some independent judgment while developing understanding of the Underwriting role
Collaborate with individuals and managers to handle inquiries and achieve objectives
Mentor peers and less experienced staff
This SAFE position has customer contact and job duties which may include the offering/negotiating of terms and/or taking an application for a dwelling secured transaction. As such, this position requires compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations. Ongoing employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements, including acceptable background investigation results. Individuals in a SAFE position also must meet the Loan Originator requirements under Regulation Z (LO) outlined in the job expectations below
Required Qualifications:
4+ years of Underwriting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
Agency and Government Mortgage Underwriting experience
Experience in performing in-depth review and analysis of personal/business tax returns and business financial statements
Experience working in a mortgage lending operations/production environment
Critical thinking skills to be able to exercise expert judgement and identify/recommend reasonable situations to deviate from credit policies
Quality focused and detail oriented
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
Ability to explain why information required/needed
Ability to explain review and why decision made
Job Expectations:

Site hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:00am-5:00pm (local time)

Pay Range
