About this role:

  • Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager.


In this role, you will:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
  • Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy
  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement
  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
  • Interpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
  • Collaborate with, partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices
  • Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineering
  • Hire, build and guide a culture of talent development to have the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy, as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience

Additional Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of engineering leadership and people management with strong focus on delivery, talent development, and stakeholder alignment.
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development across Microsoft .NET 8, Java, Python, Angular, Shell, and REST/SOAP/Web APIs.
  • Proven delivery experience with reconciliation platforms such as IntelliMatch, EZOPS ARO, or equivalent systems
  • Strong expertise in real-time data processing and analytics, with deep experience in SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, and MS SQL Server.
  • Proven experience with messaging and event-driven architectures, including JMS, IBM MQ, and Apache Kafka.
  • Hands-on experience using Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and Story Weaver to accelerate development workflows, improve code quality, and enhance team productivity.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML models into production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift (OCP).
  • Hands-on experience configuring and supporting AutoSys job schedules, dependencies, alerts, and recovery workflows in production environments.
  • Strong background in automated testing and quality engineering, leveraging WAF (.NET, Selenium), JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, and TDD/BDD practices.
  • Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, GitHub, UCD, Harness and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong command of object-oriented design, architectural patterns, and SOLID principles, applied to scalable and resilient systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, manage risk, and deliver across multiple concurrent releases.
  • Strong executive presence with excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Experience working effectively with global teams across geographies and time zones.

Job Expectations:

  • Lead multiple engineering teams delivering development, enhancement, and production support for enterprise Reconciliation Platforms.
  • Drive strategic consolidation of reconciliation systems across Wholesale, Consumer, and WIM Operations, reducing platform sprawl and operational risk.
  • Own end-to-end delivery across the full SDLC, managing multi-release, high-complexity programs from India delivery locations.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, architecture guidelines, documentation, quality benchmarks, and delivery commitments.
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead architecture and design reviews, participate in code reviews, and drive sound technical decision-making.
  • Advance CI/CD adoption, Agile maturity, and DevSecOps practices aligned with P2P enterprise standards.
  • Identify, prioritize, and deliver continuous improvement initiatives and proof-of-concepts to enhance platform capability and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the design and deployment of GenAI-enabled solutions across cloud-native and on-prem, containerized environments.
  • Partner with AI/ML, Cloud, and Security teams to integrate LLM capabilities into operational and reconciliation workflows.
  • Lead cloud migration initiatives and next-generation data center adoption programs.
  • Review legacy systems and define modernization roadmaps aligned to business strategy.
  • Define, track, and report OKRs and KPIs aligned with business outcomes and technology strategy.
  • Collaborate with global operations and business stakeholders to build resilient, scalable, and stable production systems.
  • Provide accurate delivery estimates, manage capacity, and enforce delivery governance and standards.
  • Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering teams; plan for talent needs and proactively manage attrition.
