Technology Business Development Partner

About this role:

This role is Strategic Technology Partner team, which is part of Technology Business Development, will focus on one or more parts of the technology stack and cover one or more parts of the business. On the business side, this role will drive our Venture Capital coverage and work closely with our partners in CIB, including Investment Bankers, Equity Capital Markets, and Corporate Bankers, to align on core client-vendor engagement.  Within Technology, coverage will depend in part on the experience of candidate for the role.  Areas identified by the team for incremental coverage include fintech/payments, enterprise infrastructure, GenAI, contract labor, and SDLC/DevOps, and we are looking for candidates with depth in one or more of these areas. This position will play a critical role in initiating, developing and coordinating partnerships with startups and more mature technology companies.  This role would collaborate with the CIB teams focused on venture coverage; the CIO teams focused on functional areas noted above; the business and technology leadership teams of the Consumer Bank and the Corporate Bank; and Banking and Corporate Strategy teams to initiate partnerships with emerging companies, existing and potential vendors,  and private market investors to find interesting companies for IT to engage, build technology stacks and client relationships.

This employee will engage directly with Technology clients in collaboration with the Head of Technology, Media, Telecom Investment Banking and the Head of Technology Investment Banking. This position offers the unique opportunity to lead and accelerate Wells Fargo’s development of several business opportunities across the technology and fintech sectors.  This employee will participate and at times lead calls/pitches with Banking colleagues to develop strategic, sustainable relationships across the technology marketplace.

This employee will lead the team’s charter to build the Wells Fargo Technology brand with emerging fintech and digital asset companies, venture capitalists, clients and prospects. This role would operate as the connective tissue between various groups, driving the partnership and dialogue with the venture capital community.  This role is ultimately focused on making sure the right stakeholders come together regardless of vendor relationships or banking deals, yet these could lead to stronger relationships and solutions for Wells Fargo.

This employee is accountable to the Head of Technology Business Development and is expected to work directly with the Technology Leadership Team; Technology, Media and Telecom, Banking and Head of Technology Banking on priorities, focus areas and client relationships. This team’s charter includes serving as the central repository for vendor opportunities, monitoring vendor progress, track large shifts in spend, provide timely feedback to banking on vendor relationships (including challenges that arise), and assist in identifying banking opportunities with existing and potential vendors.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as a Business Execution advisor to leadership to drive performance and initiatives, and develop and implement information delivery or presentations to key stakeholders and senior management

  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges related to Business Execution that require solid analytical skills, extensive knowledge of Business Execution, and understanding of business, delivering longer term and large scale solutions

  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to senior leadership for implementing innovative and significant business solutions that are large scale and cross organizational

  • Lead team meetings or steering committee to facilitate decision making and support implementation of recommendations and plans

  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across multiple lines of businesses and serve as an experienced advisor to the leadership

  • Provide direction to a cross functional team using business expertise


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Business Execution, Implementation, or Strategic Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in Technology business development; direct engagement with key clients, including face-to-face meetings with business partners; relationship building across large complex organizations; and developing and executing partnership opportunities

  • Deep technical and/or business knowledge & experience to be credible internally and externally on IT themes, product areas including Wells Fargo’s product operating model, and key areas and needs assessment

  • Ability to connect, communicate with the market and externally with executive teams of the clients, prospects and venture capitalists to partner with banking to develop prospects (executive teams and Board members) into clients through better visibility into our company wide IT needs

  • Ability to navigate WF business and IT organizations and guide clients & prospects to the right Technology executives to be properly vetted and to the business units mostly likely to fund real contract spend

  • Ideally someone who has experience leading and/or active partner in a small technology firm seeking large partners and/or financial investments

  • Excessive and progressive experience in technology innovations, products, and partnership or go-to-market

  • Has experience with business development, specifically serving technology and software firms, fintech’s and startups

    Pay Range
     

    Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

    $167,000.00 - $260,000.00
