About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Operational Risk Officer


In this role, you will:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor risk-based programs to identify, assess, and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events
  • Maintain a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems, and internal controls
  • Analyze extremely complex business and system changes to determine impact, identify operational risk issues and participate in the development of risk ratings
  • Provide operational risk expertise and consulting to complex business units for initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines
  • Design and develop the most complex testing strategies, methodologies and analyses
  • Consult with the business to develop corrective action plans and effectively manage change
  • Identify training opportunities
  • Design and coordinate the development of training materials and coordinate or deliver training
  • Report findings and develop business cases to influence executive management, management committee member or head of business on the need for controls to mitigate risk
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Lead project or virtual teams and mentor less experienced staff


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Risk & Compliance, operational risk management (includes Financial Risk or audit, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; of which primary exposure should be around Financial Risk management.
  • Industry certifications such as CPA, CIA, CA preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to draw conclusions and translate findings from complex data
  • Experience gathering, analyzing and interpreting datasets
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand environment while prioritizing work and balancing multiple priorities
  • Ability to utilize Artificial intelligence tools and prompts to efficiently deliver. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, LiveMeeting and SharePoint)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organization levels, where flexibility, collaboration and adaptability are important
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and creative problem solving techniques
  • Operational risk profile reporting and data driven insights


Job Expectations:

  • Meaningful knowledge of the enterprise risk management frameworks and the ORM Methodology, including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance, ORM execution and monitoring routines, and risk management programs. Understanding of the Finance functions (Controller, Treasury, Business Finance, Financial/Regulatory Reporting) business operations, processes, and products where they manifest risk.
  • Ability to influence change and drive alignment across all levels of stakeholders to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions.
  • Strong executive communication skills, in both written and verbal formats. Develop, implement, and monitor risk-based programs to identify, assess, and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events. Maintain a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency. Analyze extremely complex business and system changes to determine impact, identify operational risk issues and participate in the development of risk ratings.

Position based out of Bangalore or Hyderabad Hybrid working model (adherence to current expectation of 4 days in-office or as required by Organization or function in future)

Shift Timings from 01:30 pm to 10:30

Experience with Risk Appetite Metric and Key Indicator programs Experience with Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process Experience with Operational Risk Event (ORE) assessment process Experience with Enterprise Risk Identification (ERID) assessment process Experience with Tableau and other visualization tools, with the ability to incorporate a visual data story into an actionable narrative for executive audience Knowledge of SHRP and other risk systems 
Ability to review and develop work plans and effectively summarize results Experience leveraging data to support risk oversight.
