About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Operations Engineer.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex, broad impact initiatives including provision of high-level systems consultation for the technology teams.
- Work as key participant in large scale planning of computer systems and network infrastructure for Systems Operations functional area
- Review and analyze complex technical challenges, as well as escalated support issues related to core business solutions that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors, such as alternatives, enhancements, periodic systems reviews, or improvements to existing systems.
- Make decisions on technical changes and enhancements
- Consult with engineering team on change design requiring solid understanding of technical process controls or standards that influence and drive new initiatives
- Collaborate and consult with technical peers, colleagues, and mid to more experienced level managers to resolve systems support issues and achieve goals
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Experienced PeopleSoft Administrator with proven expertise in People Tools latest version upgrades (8.6x+), PUM image updates, Oracle quarterly CPU patching, PHIRE deployments, Automation, vulnerability management, OpenSearch administration, technology refresh initiatives, and performance tuning.
- The role is responsible for ensuring secure, resilient, and highly available PeopleSoft Applications environments, aligned with enterprise security, audit, and compliance standards.
- Perform PeopleTools upgrades (8.6x+), including pre‑upgrade analysis, execution, and post‑upgrade validation.
- Manage PUM Image lifecycle, selective updates using PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM), and support customization retrofit activities.

- Lead and support PHIRE code change management and deployment initiatives, including:
- Deploying PeopleSoft code using PHIRE
- Supporting vulnerability remediation and compliance requirements
- Recommending proactive improvements based on PHIRE insights
- Drive Vulnerability Management activities, including:
- Remediation of findings from security scanners and assessment tools
- Alignment with Oracle security advisories, CPUs, and compliance mandates
- Implement and enhance automation for PeopleSoft administration tasks, including:
- Domain build and configuration
- Patching, environment refreshes, and health checks
- Monitoring and maintenance using Shell, Python, and PowerShell scripts
- Administer and support PeopleSoft environments (DEV / TEST / UAT / PROD):
- Application Server, Web Server, and Process Scheduler domains
- Manage and support PeopleSoft Search Framework using OpenSearch, including:
- OpenSearch installation, configuration, and integration with PeopleSoft
- Index creation, rebuilds, scheduling, and troubleshooting
- Performance tuning and validation during upgrades and patches
- Lead Technology Refresh projects, including:
- OS, database, middleware, WebLogic, Java, and platform upgrades
- On‑prem and/or cloud modernization initiatives
- Perform database refreshes, cloning, and environment migrations, ensuring data integrity and data masking compliance.
- Conduct BCP / DR simulations and failover testing, validate recovery procedures, and maintain DR readiness documentation.
- Manage SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle, including installation, renewal, and replacement for:
- WebLogic
- Integration Broker
- Load balancers(F5)
- Perform end‑to‑end performance tuning across PeopleSoft stack, including:
- Application Server, Process Scheduler, and WebLogic tuning
- Tuxedo and JVM memory/parameter optimization
- SQL and database performance analysis and tuning
- OpenSearch query and indexing performance tuning
- Provide L2/L3 production support, perform root cause analysis, and ensure SLA adherence.
- Maintain technical documentation and support audits, security assessments, and compliance reviews.
