About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java Spring Boot, JMS, Kafka, Database and OpenShift to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high‑performance applications.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments

  • Contribute to large scale planning of strategies

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments

  • Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures

  • Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients' needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals

  • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.

    Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot in enterprise-grade applications.

  • Experience building and supporting microservices-based architectures.

  • Solid knowledge of JMS, Kafka, or other messaging/event‑driven systems.

  • Proficiency with relational databases and SQL; experience with transactional systems is preferred.

  • Experience deploying and running applications on OpenShift or Kubernetes-based platforms.

  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and production support.


Job Expectations:

  • Experience working in Payments or Investment Banking technology platforms.

  • Familiarity with payment standards and flows (e.g., wire payments, real‑time payments, SWIFT, ISO 20022).

  • Experience with cloud‑native development, containerization, and DevOps practices.

  • Knowledge of system resiliency, performance tuning, and high‑availability architectures.

  • Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical teams.

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑availability Payment's environment with strict delivery and quality standards.

  • Participate in production support, incident resolution, and root-cause analysis as needed.

  • Adhere to enterprise security, risk, and compliance requirements.

  • Consistently deliver high‑quality code and technical solutions aligned with business priorities.

  • Collaborate effectively across global teams and time zones.
