Wells Fargo is seeking an Underwriter in Specialty Credit Services as part of Consumer Banking and Lending. Wells Fargo is seeking an exceptional Underwriter to join our growing High Net Worth Credit Card Underwriting team. This role is ideal for a credit professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys making sound judgment-based credit decisions, and is passionate about delivering exceptional experience for affluent clients.
As an Underwriter, you will evaluate complex consumer credit requests from high-net-worth customers, utilizing financial analysis, credit expertise, and independent judgment to make informed lending decisions. You will partner closely with bankers and internal stakeholders while balancing customer experience, risk management, and operational excellence.

In this role, you will:
- Review, analyze, approve, and underwrite consumer credit requests for affluent and high-net-worth clients within established credit policies and authority limits.
- Evaluate credit applications, credit bureau reports, tax returns, financial statements, and supporting documentation to determine creditworthiness.
- Make lending decisions for unsecured credit card and other consumer credit products using a combination of automated and judgment-based underwriting.
- Communicate credit decisions clearly and professionally to internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner with bankers and relationship teams to gather additional information and ensure sound credit decisions.
- Provide thoughtful decision rationale and recommendations on complex credit situations.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant credit files in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Manage a high-volume underwriting pipeline while maintaining strong attention to detail and service-level expectations.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support ongoing process improvements.
- Deliver premium customer experience aligned with the expectations of affluent and high-net-worth clientele.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of underwriting, loan processing, originations, or closing experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience analyzing consumer credit and making independent credit decisions.
- Experience reviewing financial documentation, including credit reports, tax returns, income documentation, and financial statements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with underwriting high net worth unsecured credit cards or credit transactions
- Experience underwriting high-net-worth or affluent clients.
- Experience underwriting unsecured credit cards, consumer lending, home equity products, or related credit transactions.
- Experience working within delegated lending authority and making judgment-based credit decisions.
- Experience managing a high-volume underwriting pipeline.
- Experience partnering with bankers, financial advisors, or relationship managers.
- Understanding of private banking, wealth management, or affluent customer lending environments.
- Ability to analyze complex financial profiles and articulate clear credit decision rationale.
- Strong attention to detail in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
