About this Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Specialty Software Engineering Senior Manager to lead FICC (Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities) Strategic Trade Management Engineering. This leader will be responsible for defining and executing the technology strategy, architecture, delivery, and modernization of a front-to-back trade management platform supporting Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange (FX), and Commodities businesses. The platform encompasses user interface frameworks, workflow orchestration, event-driven processing, and scalable distributed services that support trade capture, order and execution workflows, trade lifecycle management, pricing, valuation, risk management, position management, confirmation, settlement, and regulatory reporting.

The successful candidate will drive the transformation of legacy and vendor-based trading platforms into modern cloud-native, API-driven, and microservices-based architectures while ensuring platform resiliency, scalability, security, and performance. This role will play a critical part in establishing strategic architecture patterns, data models, workflow standards, and integration frameworks across FICC asset classes and partner closely with Trading, Product, Operations, Risk, Finance, and Control organizations to deliver business-critical capabilities.

This leader will be responsible for building and developing high-performing engineering teams, driving engineering excellence, and ensuring alignment with Wells Fargo technology strategy, enterprise architecture, governance standards, and modernization initiatives. The role requires deep expertise in capital markets technology, trade processing platforms, distributed systems, application modernization, and large-scale transformation programs within complex financial services environments.

In This role:

  • Retire legacy Vendor Platforms and internal Applications and execute technical and architectural modernization initiatives, including legacy rationalization, cloud adoption, API‑first and event‑driven architectures, and workflow standardization.
  • Lead and manage multiple engineering teams responsible for delivering business-critical capabilities within the Tensor FICC Strategic Trade Management Platform, covering ETFs, Macro products, user interfaces, and front‑to‑back business workflows.
  • Participate & Collaborate on end‑to‑end engineering delivery across front office, middle office, and operational workflows, including trade capture, lifecycle management, workflow orchestration, and platform integrations.
  • Act as a senior technology partner to Trading, Sales, Middle Office, Product Management, Risk, and Operations, translating complex business needs into scalable, resilient technology solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with Core Platform teams, Data Governance, Risk Management, and Control partners to ensure consistency in architecture, data models, controls, and regulatory alignment.
  • Drive AI‑driven efficiencies, including embedding agentic and automation solutions to improve productivity, decision support, operational efficiency, and time‑to‑market.
  • Establish and enforce engineering best practices across design, development, testing, deployment, and production support, ensuring high availability, scalability, security, and operational resilience.
  • Build, mentor, and retain high‑performing engineering talent, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the engineering organization in architecture reviews, governance forums, and senior stakeholder discussions, influencing strategic technology direction.
     

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience leading software engineering teams in complex technology environments.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proven ability to partner effectively with business stakeholders (Trading, Sales, Middle Office, Product Management) and translate business strategy into executable technology roadmaps.
  • Hands‑on experience with strategic trade management, order/execution workflows, lifecycle events, risk integration, confirmations, settlements, or regulatory reporting.
  • Demonstrated success embedding AI/ML‑driven capabilities, automation, or agentic solutions within enterprise platforms.
  • Solid understanding of modern engineering practices, including Agile delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, cloud-native development, API design, and microservices.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across technology and business organizations.
  • Prior experience in FICC or Capital Markets technology, including exposure to ETFs, Rates, FX, Credit, or Macro products and their trade lifecycle workflows.
  • Experience working closely with Data Governance, Risk Management, and Control teams, aligning technology solutions with data quality, lineage, and regulatory requirements.
  • Background in designing and scaling event‑driven, workflow‑centric platforms using modern UI frameworks and distributed architectures.
  • Experience driving technology modernization, reducing technical debt, and improving platform scalability, resiliency, and performance.
  • Experience leading globally distributed engineering teams and large transformation programs.

Job Expectations

  • Lead end-to-end engineering delivery for strategic trade management platforms spanning user experience, workflow orchestration, distributed services, and enterprise integration layers.
  • Define and execute modernization roadmaps that retire legacy applications, reduce technical debt, and accelerate adoption of cloud-native and API-enabled technologies.
  • Drive the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, low-latency, and highly available services supporting the complete trade lifecycle across FICC asset classes.
  • Establish consistent trade data models, workflow standards, integration frameworks, and service-oriented architectures that enable enterprise-wide interoperability and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure seamless integration with trading, risk, finance, operations, settlements, data, and regulatory reporting platforms.
  • Partner with Product, Trading, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Control partners to translate business priorities into scalable technology solutions.
  • Lead architecture governance, engineering standards, platform resiliency initiatives, operational readiness, and production support best practices.
  • Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering teams while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work on-site at the posted location.

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$185,000.00 - $300,000.00
