About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Systems Operations Engineer to join the SRE & Automation organization. This role is critical to sustaining enterprise reporting, observability, automation, and data platform capabilities that enable operational excellence across the organization. The successful candidate will drive scalable solutions that improve reliability, enhance operational visibility, reduce manual effort, and deliver data-driven insights to engineering and business stakeholders.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area
  • Contribute in increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks
  • Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Work with vendors and other technical personnel for problem resolution
  • Lead team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards
  • Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable reporting, analytics, and dashboard solutions that provide operational visibility, executive insights, and performance metrics across SRE and enterprise platforms.
  • Own and enhance data ingestion pipelines, reporting schemas, KPI frameworks, and operational data models to ensure the delivery of accurate, reliable, and actionable insights.
  • Drive automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and streamline reporting, monitoring, and operational workflows.
  • Develop and support automation solutions using modern engineering frameworks and scripting languages such as Python.
  • Build and maintain automated workflows, integrations, and self-service capabilities that improve system reliability and operational scalability.
  • Create, maintain, and execute automated test cases and validation frameworks to ensure solution quality, reliability, and production readiness.
  • Support automation testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), regression validation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and adoption of agentic platform capabilities, including automation, orchestration, and self-service engineering solutions.
  • Participate in proof-of-concepts, innovation initiatives, and technical demonstrations leveraging next-generation engineering platforms and tools.
  • Drive Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices focused on reliability, availability, observability, resiliency, and operational excellence.
  • Support production systems and operational platforms by proactively monitoring performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and ensuring platform stability.
  • Partner with engineering and platform teams to implement monitoring, alerting, and observability best practices.
  • Analyze operational trends, platform performance, and service health metrics to identify risks, optimize performance, and improve user experience.
  • Collaborate with product owners, platform teams, automation engineers, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions, technical decision-making, and engineering best practices while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and support team members through knowledge sharing, technical guidance, and adoption of engineering standards and best practices.
  • Participate actively in Agile delivery processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement activities.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that enhance operational intelligence, reduce operational toil, and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education



Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong programming experience in Python and frameworks such as Flask, Django, or FastAPI
  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
  • Knowledge of software design principles and version control (Git)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
  • Experience building and maintaining automated test cases and testing frameworks.
  • Experience developing dashboards, operational reporting solutions, and analytics platforms.
  • Exposure to or experience working within an agentic platform model (automation, orchestration, and self-service capabilities)
