Lead Systems Operations Engineer

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Operations Engineer.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex, broad impact initiatives including provision of high level systems consultation for the technology teams
  • Work as key participant in large scale planning of computer systems and network infrastructure for Systems Operations functional area
  • Review and analyze complex technical challenges, as well as escalated support issues related to core business solutions that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors, such as alternatives, enhancements, periodic systems reviews, or improvements to existing systems
  • Make decisions on technical changes and enhancements
  • Consult with engineering team on change design requiring solid understanding of technical process controls or standards that influence and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with technical peers, colleagues, and mid to more experienced level managers to resolve systems support issues and achieve goals


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Unix, Oracle, production support with ITIL process, Monitoring tools (Geneos, Grafana, Splunk, AppD), Autosys, Cron, Websphere, Apache, Tomcat, Kafka, MQ, Ansible, AIX


Job Expectations:

  • Application Support role to support Wires application 12x7 production environment.
  • Essential to maintaining operational stability, managing high-severity incidents, conducting problem investigations, and supporting time-sensitive production changes.

  • Role demands strong domain expertise in the end-to-end Wires lifecycle, including transaction flows and integrations with interfacing systems and clearing houses such as FED and CHIPS.

  • Pivotal in planning and executing major migrations, which directly impact business continuity.

  • The position plays a key role in cross-functional coordination with infrastructure, database, and development teams to ensure high availability, system resilience, and regulatory compliance.

  • L3 Support experience with strong ITIL process and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong knowledge on Database, MQ and middleware technologies.
  • Monitor application health, performance, and batch processes
  • Ensure SLA adherence and minimal downtime
  • Handle incidents, problems, and service requests. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring and major incidents.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support change deployments, patching, and release activities
  • Stonge knowledge on monitoring tools and proactively act on alerts and dashboards using Splunk, Geneos and Grafana
  • Hands-on experience in automation using shell/pearl/Python and AI tools.
  • Performance tuning and capacity monitoring
  • Experience with financial or payment systems domain

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment support
