About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Systems Operations Engineer


In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area
  • Contribute in increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks
  • Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Work with vendors and other technical personnel for problem resolution
  • Lead team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards
  • Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience supporting enterprise-scale application and infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience managing high-severity incidents, problem management activities, and operational escalations.
  • Experience implementing automation and process improvement initiatives within an enterprise operations environment.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production systems in a highly regulated environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to manage complex technical issues across multiple technology domains.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 technologies, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Intune.
  • Experience supporting enterprise messaging and communication platforms such as RightFax, FaxCom, Proofpoint, FireEye, and Sentrion.
  • Knowledge of regulated messaging and archiving platforms including Vantage, Smarsh, ZL, AVP, and Theta Lake.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic, Aternity, and ThousandEyes.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Azure cloud platform
  • Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity and capacity planning.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, SQL, or similar technologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working across geographically distributed teams in a global enterprise environment.
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks and effectively manage work in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Knowledge of Agile, ITIL, change management, incident management, and problem management practices.


Job Expectations:

  • Provide advanced operational support for critical enterprise communication and collaboration technologies, ensuring high availability, stability, and performance.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex incidents, outages, and service degradation issues while minimizing business impact.
  • Drive operational excellence through automation, process optimization, and reduction of manual effort and operational toil.
  • Partner with engineering, architecture, security, and infrastructure teams to implement technology strategies and support modernization initiatives.
  • Support platform transformation efforts, including cloud adoption, resiliency improvements, and application modernization programs.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, observability, and performance management capabilities across supported platforms.
  • Analyze operational trends and identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, security, and service performance.
  • Participate in technology upgrades, infrastructure migrations, vulnerability remediation, and disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Function as a technical escalation point during major incidents and support problem management activities to identify root causes and preventive measures.
  • Contribute to the adoption of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including service level objectives, error budgets, operational health metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance with Wells Fargo technology risk, security, audit, and change management requirements.
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, knowledge articles, support procedures, and recovery runbooks.
  • Provide technical mentoring and knowledge sharing to junior engineers and operations team members.
  • Engage with third-party technology vendors and service providers to support issue resolution, upgrade planning, and platform enhancements
  • Support large-scale enterprise messaging, collaboration, and regulated communications platforms serving a global user base.
  • Drive adoption and maturity of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including toil reduction, reliability improvements, and operational automation.
  • Lead major incident response efforts and contribute to root cause analysis and preventive remediation activities.
  • Participate in platform roadmap initiatives, upgrades, migrations, and cloud transformation programs.
  • Partner with engineering and architecture teams to improve platform resiliency, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Leverage monitoring and observability tools to proactively identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, audit, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support 24x7 production environments through operational readiness, on-call rotations, and escalation support as required.
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives focused on automation, operational efficiency, customer experience, and platform reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation.
