About this role:
- Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer.
- Join Wells Fargo’s cutting-edge LOS AI Data Hub team, building secure, scalable, and intelligent microservices on the Wells Fargo Orchestra Framework.
- As a Senior Java Engineer, you will architect and deliver robust solutions and advanced AI workflows. You will leverage your expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and modern engineering practices, while also driving innovation with Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
In this role, you will:
- Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments
- Contribute to large scale planning of strategies
- Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
- Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures
- Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients’ needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals
- Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Job Expectations:
- Design, develop, and maintain Java 17+ Spring Boot microservices following Clean Architecture and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles.
- Implement and optimize RESTful APIs, ensuring compliance with enterprise SDLC, security, and data governance standards.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, and risk partners to translate mortgage business requirements into secure, scalable technical solutions.
- Drive adoption of GenAI/LLM technologies, including prompt engineering, workflow orchestration, and tool-augmented agentic systems.
- Conduct code reviews, and champion modern DevSecOps and CI/CD practices.
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and support production systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Maintain strong documentation and contribute to architectural standards and best practices.
Desired Qualifications:
- 4+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with Java (preferably Java 17+), Spring Boot, and RESTful service development.
- Practical knowledge of Generative AI, LLM-driven workflows, and prompt design.
- Experience with multi-model LLM strategies (e.g., Gemini, Claude, proprietary models).
- Understanding of model risk, explainability, and validation in regulated environments.
- Exposure to event streaming (Kafka), cloud-native patterns, and DevSecOps.
- Prior experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead.
- Experience using or integrating GenAI developer tools such as Copilot, Devin, or similar platforms
- Experience in the Mortgage domain (origination, underwriting, servicing, or default management).
- Knowledge of document processing, decision automation, or workflow optimization in mortgage systems.
- Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and secure coding practices.
- Experience with microservices, integration patterns, and Oracle JDBC (UCP).
- Proficiency with Gradle, Git, and Agile delivery methodologies.
