About this role:
- Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Manager.
In this role, you will:
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of individual contributor engineer roles with low to moderate complexity and less experienced managers who are responsible for building high-quality capabilities with modern technology
- Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
- Engage with architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture to enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example, cloud readiness, application modernization and data strategy
- Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
- Identify and recommend opportunities for driving resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
- Act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to make decisions and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement culture
- Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
- Interpret, develop, and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with low to moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
- Collaborate and consult with the Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices
- Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources for technology engineering including career development and performance management for engineers and managers on the team
- Hire, mentor and guide talent development of direct reports to build the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for the supported product areas/products
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 2+ years of Leadership experience
Job Expectation:
- Provide unified leadership and direction to all Scrum Masters supporting transformation activities.
- Improve coordination and execution across product, release, and modernization initiatives.
- Strengthen governance, risk management, and delivery oversight for transformation programs.
- Accelerate the adoption of agile, product-focused delivery practices across teams.
- Enable faster decision-making and improved alignment between India and global stakeholders.
- Support workforce transformation, talent development, and capability building required for future-state operating models.
- Drive efficiencies through standardized processes, metrics, and execution frameworks across CLO technology teams.
- Manage and develop Scaled Agile portfolios of the highest complexity
- Guide the teams to follow Agile and Scrum practices to promote prioritization, team readiness, and commitment for each Sprint
- Optimize scrum team velocity to identify improvement opportunities to achieve higher levels of team performance
- Oversee systemic impediments to team agility and guide the teams on methods to escalate
- Deliver capabilities using agile practices while following the Software Development Lifecycle, business process mapping, and various release processes to ensure all risk, security, and development requirements are met
- Partner with discipline managers to convey their concerns to scrum teams about governance policies and adherence to corporate standards
- Collaborate with product owners, program, or project managers to communicate delivery of work product from the teams and escalate key risks and issues impeding scrum team effectiveness
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Interact with internal customers
- Receive direction from leaders and exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Train other Scrum Masters and serve as a mentor to less experienced staff.
Desired Qualifications:
- 5+ years Proven experience leading multiple Scrum Masters and driving large-scale Agile transformation initiatives.
- 5+ years Strong expertise in governance, delivery management, stakeholder alignment, and organizational change leadership.
- Experience leading Agile delivery across multiple technology teams, products, or workstreams within a large-scale, highly regulated environment.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, dependency management, feature readiness, and cross-team release coordination for complex technology initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Agile and Scaled Agile practices, software development lifecycle controls, release management, testing governance, and production-readiness processes.
- Proven ability to influence product, technology, architecture, testing, operations, risk, and partner teams to resolve impediments, manage competing priorities, and achieve shared delivery outcomes.
- Experience using delivery metrics, automation, and approved AI-enabled tools to improve planning, transparency, quality, predictability, and continuous improvement
