Senior Business Credit Specialist

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Business Credit Specialist to join the Auto Originations Credit Strategy team. In this role, you will support the development, implementation, monitoring, and optimization of credit strategies that drive profitable growth while maintaining a strong risk and control environment. Responsibilities span credit strategy, automated decisioning, credit expansion initiatives, and ongoing performance monitoring. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to translate data into actionable insights, and collaboration with partners across Risk, Product, Technology, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and other business functions. The team is responsible for strategy analysis, performance monitoring, implementation support, and governance activities across the indirect auto lending portfolio.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the development, testing, implementation, and monitoring of credit, underwriting, and automated decisioning strategies across the indirect auto lending portfolio
  • Analyze portfolio performance, application trends, approval outcomes, customer behavior, operational impacts, and emerging risks to identify opportunities that improve risk-adjusted profitability, automation, customer experience, and portfolio performance
  • Conduct analytical evaluations and develop recommendations to support strategy enhancements and business objectives
  • Prepare recurring monitoring, business reviews, and performance reporting related to strategy changes, pilots, and portfolio trends
  • Support governance activities associated with credit strategy changes, including documentation, implementation planning, monitoring, and control-related requirements
  • Partner with Product, Technology, Operations, Fraud, Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to support strategy development, implementation, and business initiatives
  • Support audit, exam, issue management, policy implementation, and regulatory response activities through analytical research, documentation, and reporting
  • Evaluate new data sources, analytical techniques, models, and third-party solutions to identify opportunities for improving credit strategy, automated decisioning, profitability, and growth
  • Assist in developing and maintaining policies, procedures, business requirements, and monitoring frameworks that support effective governance and control execution
  • Present analytical findings and business insights to team members, business partners, and management audiences
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives that expand credit access, improve automation, strengthen controls, and optimize portfolio profitability within established risk appetite

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Business Credit experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Analytical experience in credit risk, lending strategy, underwriting, consumer finance analytics, or related disciplines
  • Proficiency in SAS, SQL, Python, or other analytical programming tools
  • Experience analyzing large data sets and developing data-driven business recommendations
  • Experience within auto finance, consumer lending, financial services, or related industries
  • Knowledge of portfolio performance monitoring, strategy development, automated decisioning, or credit risk management concepts
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate analytical findings into actionable business insights
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize analytical findings for business audiences
  • Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule
