AI Governance Senior Lead

Wells Fargo is seeking an AI Governance Senior Lead (Senior Lead Artificial Intelligence Solutions Consultant), as part of the Artificial Intelligence team.

This role is responsible for establishing, executing, and maintaining the artificial intelligence governance framework, including policies, standards, operating models, tooling, and controls that ensure AI and machine learning solutions are compliant, explainable, secure, and aligned with applicable regulatory, legal, and risk management requirements.

You will assess enterprise AI maturity, define multi‑year governance roadmaps, risk‑informed guidance across a broad portfolio of AI initiatives, including data platforms, advanced analytics, machine learning, and intelligent automation. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, this individual monitor evolving regulatory expectations and industry standards to strengthen governance capabilities while enabling responsible and controlled adoption of AI at scale.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to senior leadership in developing a large cross functional team to identify and execute complex artificial intelligence initiatives that span a large line of business
  • Provide consultation to more experienced leaders in order to recommend solutions which solve business challenges
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex challenges ensuring the solution delivers the intended benefits
  • Leverage Artificial Intelligence expertise to evaluate technological readiness, data availability, and resources required to execute the proposed solutions
  • Provide direction on key issues which may arise during development or implementation
  • Cultivate relationships with clients to identify and develop a pipeline of future Artificial Intelligence opportunities which align with the strategic priorities of the business
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Artificial Intelligence Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of experience establishing, executing, and maintaining enterprise level Artificial Intelligence governance frameworks, including policies, standards, operating models, tooling, and oversight mechanisms to ensure compliant, responsible, and consistent AI adoption across lines of business
  • 5+ years of proven experience defining and owning end to end governance strategy, requirements, and oversight for large scale technology or platform programs, including risk assessment, control design, and enterprise or global alignment in a highly regulated environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate ability to design, implement, and operate enterprise-wide AI governance frameworks within a large, regulated financial institution, ensuring alignment with business strategy, risk appetite, and regulatory expectations
  • Navigate complex regulatory, privacy, and risk constraints (e.g., model risk management, data usage restrictions, fair lending) to ensure AI and advanced analytics solutions comply with internal policies and external regulatory expectations across their full lifecycle
  • Translate AI governance policies, standards, and risk frameworks into clear product requirements, operational controls, and technical expectations that can be consistently implemented by engineering and data science teams
  • Embed risk-aware design principles into AI-enabled systems, including appropriate controls, documentation, monitoring, and human-in-the-loop mechanisms to mitigate model, operational, and compliance risks at scale
  • Partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Product, and Engineering stakeholders to align on AI governance decisions, resolve trade-offs, and drive enterprise adoption of responsible and compliant AI practices

CA- Concord Pay Range: $185,000 – $300,000 Annually

NC- Charlotte Pay Range: $185,000 – $300,000 Annually

    Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
