About this role:
Wells Fargo Commodities is seeking a Vice President to lead the development, launch and commercialization of a Precious Metals Vaulting platform within the Commodities business. The role combines platform build-out leadership with commercial origination responsibilities across sales, operations, infrastructure and market structure, with responsibility for delivering a market-ready vaulting solution aligned with COMEX and LBMA standards. This role reports directly into the Head of Precious Metals.
In this role, you will:
Build-Out & Platform Development
- Lead the end-to-end setup of the vaulting business, acting as a commercial project manager
- Define target operating model across internal vault capabilities, third-party depositories, and inventory management; lead regular governance forums across stakeholders
- Drive alignment with industry standards (LBMA, COMEX)
- Interface with vault operators, exchanges, logistics providers, insurers and auditors
- Establish processes for onboarding metal into the network, physical flows, reconciliation, audit, and reporting
Governance, Risk & Market Infrastructure
- Drive vaulting capabilities to meet regulatory and internal control requirements
- Partner with risk and compliance to implement KYC/AML processes, asset segregation, client protection frameworks
- Support documentation frameworks (custody agreements, product terms, delivery rules etc.)
- Ensure audit readiness and oversee third-party depository governance
Commercial Strategy & Product Development
- Develop go-to-market strategy by client segment
- Work with trading and structuring to embed vaulting into broader solutions
Sales & Client Origination
- Market vaulting capabilities to existing and new clients
- Build and manage a pipeline of custody and physical metals clients
- Drive revenue through storage fees, clearing/delivery activity, and cross-sell (leasing, hedging, financing)
- Maintain high-touch client coverage
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Securities Sales experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
5+ years of experience in precious metals markets (physical, trading or sales); or commodities sales/trading with physical exposure.
Desired Qualifications:
- Direct experience with at least one of: vaulting/custody, logistics/supply chain for metals; exchange delivery
- Demonstrated ability to launch new products/platforms; navigate cross-functional organizations; originate and grow client relationships
- Strong understanding of LBMA market structure, COMEX delivery and warranting, and physical metal flows
- Familiarity with inventory management/custody frameworks
- Strong stakeholder management across senior internal groups
- Demonstrated ability to commercialize infrastructure capabilities into client solutions and revenue streams
- Excellent communication with the ability to translate technical and operational concepts for commercial audiences
- Ability to operate effectively within a regulated financial institution.
- Financing structure knowledge (leases, repos, collateralized trades)
- Commercial mindset and project execution capabilities
Job Expectations:
- Travel up to 30%.
