Wells Fargo Corporate & Investment Banking offers MBA candidates two pathways into Investment Banking: a 10-week Summer Associate Program between the first and second years of business school, and a full-time Investment Banking Associate role after graduation.
Both opportunities provide exposure to live transactions, hands-on experience, and direct access to senior bankers and clients. The Summer Associate Program serves as our primary pipeline for full-time hiring, while the Associate role builds on that foundation by offering greater leadership opportunities and deeper involvement in deal execution and client relationships.
Summer Associate Program – Investment Banking
The Investment Banking MBA Summer Associate Program is a high-impact, 10-week experience designed to accelerate your development and evaluate you for a full-time role. You'll work on live transactions, build advanced financial skills, and gain direct exposure to clients and senior bankers. Top-performing Summer Associates may receive full-time offers at the end of the program.
As a Summer Associate, you will:
- Contribute to live deals and transaction execution while working alongside experienced teams
- Build financial models, valuations, and client materials
- Participate in client meetings and support due diligence efforts across live transactions
- Build experience across industry groups and product teams while developing a well-rounded understanding of investment banking
- Strengthen your skills through regular feedback, mentorship, and performance evaluations
Summer program structure
- 10-week Summer Associate internship completed between the first and second year of an MBA program
- Includes focused technical training on-the-job deal experience
- Designed as a direct pipeline to full-time Investment Banking Associate roles
Full‑Time Investment Banking Associate Role
Upon joining full‑time, Associates take on greater ownership and leadership responsibility across deal execution and client engagement.
As a Full‑Time Associate, you will:
- Lead workstreams across live transactions and client deliverables
- Manage analysts and support team execution
- Play a more active role in client relationships and strategic dialogue
- Develop deeper expertise within a coverage or product group
Full‑Time structure
- Begins with an 8‑week formal training program
- Placement into a dedicated industry or product group
- Ongoing progression toward VP and leadership roles
