About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Data Science Director within Consumer Banking lines of business (Deposit & Payments, Business and Affluent/Premier Banking). Lead advanced analytics and data science strategy to optimize deposit pricing, balance growth, margin, and customer retention across consumer and small business portfolios.

- Drive higher deposit balances (properly priced), across Consumer and Business Banking
- Own end‑to‑end deposit pricing analytics: rate setting, elasticity modeling, scenario simulation, and yield optimization
- Strong understanding of Consumer and Business banking deposit’s function, interest rate dynamics, and competitive banking markets
- Lead and develop multiple specialized data science and analytics teams, including managers and senior individual contributors, delivering end‑to‑end analytical initiatives that generate actionable insights and drive business growth.
- Own functional leadership across key dimensions including technical direction, delivery infrastructure, operating model, stakeholder communication, and engagement strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise/functional priorities.
- Identify, frame, and prioritize high‑impact opportunities for applying data science; lead hypothesis generation and analytical problem‑solving for critical, complex business challenges.
- Provide strategic and technical leadership to resolve highly complex issues using advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical techniques; influence and partner with senior leadership to drive adoption and execution of identified opportunities.
- Continuously evaluate emerging trends, tools, and methodologies to deliver modern, scalable, and simplified analytics solutions that improve data accessibility and enhance executive decision‑making.
- Integrate external market dynamics and macro factors into analytical frameworks/models and insights to better anticipate, explain, and influence business outcomes.
- Partner closely with Product, Technology, Marketing, Finance etc. leaders to identify, prioritize, and execute data science initiatives that directly support revenue growth, customer retention, and operational efficiency.
- Direct multiple layers of management to ensure consistent, high‑quality analytical consulting, insight generation, and business recommendations across teams.
- Manage workforce and financial planning, including resource allocation and prioritization, to meet delivery commitments while aligning with long‑term strategic objectives.
- Build and sustain a strong culture of talent development, technical excellence, and accountability to ensure the organization has the capabilities required to execute current and future data science strategy.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of strong and relevant data science experience in the same domain, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:- Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science
- 6+ years of experience in US Consumer Banking Business
- Thorough knowledge of Consumer Banking Products and Services, Customer touchpoints and P&L to drive intended outcome aligned with business priorities
