About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineer


In this role, you will:

  • Participate in low to moderately complex initiatives and projects associated with the technology domain, including installation, upgrades, and deployment efforts
  • Identify opportunities for service quality and availability improvements within the technology domain environment
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for low to moderately complex projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
  • Review and analyze technical assignments or challenges that are related to low to medium risk deliverables and that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternative technology domains
  • Present recommendations for resolving issues or may escalate issues as needed to meet established service level agreements
  • Exercise some independent judgment while also developing understanding of given technology domain in reference to security and compliance requirements
  • Provide information to technology colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders


Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Core Automation & Programming Skills

  • 2 years of hands‑on experience as an Automation Engineer with strong ownership of automation frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript with the ability to design, build, and debug automation frameworks independently.
  • Strong experience with Node.js, including:
  • Writing reusable libraries/utilities
  • Integrating automation with backend services and APIs
  • Proven expertise in Cucumber / BDD frameworks with strong understanding of feature design, step reuse, and test architecture.
  • Deep hands‑on experience with Selenium and Appium, Playwright, Cypress for both Web and Mobile automation.
  • Advanced skill in debugging flaky tests, Selenium/Appium failures, and CI‑related issues.
  • Web, Mobile & Frontend Technology

  • Working knowledge of React.js sufficient to:
    • Understand component structures and state flows
    • Debug UI‑level automation issues
    • Collaborate effectively with frontend engineers
  • Strong experience automating modern SPA applications.
  • Hands‑on experience with Mobile automation using:
    • UIAutomator, Espresso (Android)
    • XCUITest (iOS)
  • AI, Prompt Engineering & Modern Tooling

  • Hands‑on experience working with AI‑powered tools for:
    • Test generation
    • Code assistance
    • Test maintenance or analysis
  • Strong ability to design effective prompts, iterate on them, and integrate AI workflows into daily engineering tasks.
  • Comfort experimenting with AI‑assisted automation, self‑healing tests, script‑less tools, or quality intelligence platforms.
  • Ability to critically evaluate AI output and convert it into production‑quality automation assets.
  • DevOps, CI/CD & Tooling

  • Strong experience with GitHub (branching strategies, PR reviews, code collaboration).
  • Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud testing platforms such as:
    • BrowserStack
    • Sauce Labs
    • Perfecto
  • Experience with Applitools and test‑management integrations (Zephyr, Xray, AssertThat BDD preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence for Agile delivery and documentation.
  • Engineering Practices & Ways of Working

  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and quality engineering practices.
  • Ability to contribute beyond test execution—including:
    • Automation platform enhancements
    • Framework refactoring
    • Tooling innovation
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across QA, Development, Engineering, and Business teams.
  • Self‑driven, proactive, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Role Expectations

  • ~60% focus on automation engineering
  • ~40% contribution to development, platform enhancement, AI initiatives, and quality transformation
  • Ownership mindset—expected to build, evolve, and improve automation, not just maintain scripts.
