Data Product Owner, Marketing Data & Insights

About this role:

The Data Product Owner, Marketing Data & Insights, is responsible for setting the priorities, direction, and delivery for a product team focused on delivering high quality data and data capabilities on a modern Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role sits at the intersection of business, analytics, and technology, translating strategy and evolving business needs into clear, well governed data product outcomes. This role provides senior-level product leadership for a cross-functional team delivering enterprise-grade data assets that enable Marketing strategy, execution, measurement, and insights.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this individual leads through ambiguity, shapes strategy into execution, and drives alignment across Marketing, Analytics, Technology, and Platform partners. The P5 Data Product Owner is a visible change leader, trusted advisor, and primary point of accountability for outcomes, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.

In this role, you will:

  • Leadership & Technical Acumen

    • Serve as a partner to senior stakeholders, delivering crisp communications and influencing alignment across teams.

    • Provide oversight for operational excellence, production stability, data quality, and governance.

    • Cultivate a scrum team atmosphere that enables all members of the team to feel empowered to voice questions and concerns on stories, capacity, issues, etc.

    • Leverage analytical & SQL skills to create succinct communications to build consensus, communicate change, report issues and report progress to the Product Managers and Product Director.

    • Manage risk & compliance: Embed risk, controls, and policy requirements into product design and delivery; ensure audit readiness and operational excellence.

  • Product Backlog & Delivery Execution

    • Lead agile execution across complex initiatives, supporting PI planning and other scrum ceremonies, and managing dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs.

    • Own the Product Scrum Team Backlog; Prioritize features and user stories within sprints to ensure alignment with prioritized use cases, features, end-to-end timelines, release cycles, and tech freezes, and continually monitoring and updating JIRA hygiene.

    • Translate epics and features into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and definitions of done.

    • Provide quantitative & measurable reporting on status and realized value to the Product Manager and Product Director.

    • Communicate risks and issues to the Product Manager and Product Director

    • Identify, drive, clarify and escalate/tie breaker decisions when ingestion or data consumption questions arise.

    • Validate delivered work against functional expectations before promotion to production.

  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Delivery Support

  • Support ingestion, curation, and publishing of Marketing datasets on GCP.

  • Partner with engineering teams to validate Schema alignment, Data completeness and timeliness, and Downstream readiness for consumption and activation.

  • Challenge and pressure test technology presented design options for data storage and data movement.

  • Assist with documentation, metadata capture, and data certification activities.

  • Legacy Platform Decommission Support

  • Support migration and cutover activities related to: Teradata historical data movement and Hadoop / EDL / Hemisphere dependency removal.

  • Participate in validation and sign‑off activities to confirm parity between legacy and GCP outputs.

  • Track and assist with execution of decommission‑related backlog items and dependencies.

  • Marketing Campaign Data Enablement

  • Support data delivery for Marketing Campaigns & Conversations, including Customer and account attributes, Advisor and model score datasets, and Campaign‑specific hydration to Adobe platforms.

  • Coordinate UAT readiness and business validation with Marketing analysts and stakeholders.

  • Ensure datasets meet agreed functional definitions prior to activation.

  • Production Support & Operational Ownership

  • Provide Level‑1 product support for production incidents and defects.

  • Leverage SQL queries and data analysis to assist in pattern recognition and root cause analysis.

  • Track recurring issues and partner with engineering to support permanent remediation.

  • Participate in BCP events, BAU commitments, and release retrospectives as required.

  • Data Quality, Controls & Compliance Support

  • Support implementation and validation of Data quality checks, Control Requirements, and data governance documentation.

  • Assist with audit responses and production evidence gathering when requested.

  • Escalate data quality risks to senior product leadership as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:  

  • 7+ years of data product or data management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

  • 7+ years of experience in working as a Data Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Data Analyst in a large-scale enterprise environments.

  • Experience supporting data pipelines, including data ingestion, curation, and delivery of reporting or analytical datasets.

  • Experience working in an Agile or Scrum delivery environment, including participation in backlog management and sprint execution.

  • Hands‑on experience working with cloud data platforms, with direct delivery support on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or comparable cloud technologies.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and stakeholder influence skills.

  • Experience leading data platform modernization or migration initiatives, or legacy system decommissioning.

  • Experience writing SQL queries and conducting data discovery, creating Excel charts, graphs and data analysis to report issues and progress to the Product Managers and Product Director

  • Familiarity with Marketing, customer, or campaign data domains.

  • Experience with production data support, incident management, and operational ownership.

  • Exposure to data quality frameworks, metadata management, lineage, and governance practices.

  • Experience operating in regulated environments with data quality and control requirements.

  • Positive, enthusiastic leader comfortable with ambiguity and independent execution.

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule.

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$159,000.00 - $279,000.00
