Software Engineering Senior Manager

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Senior Manager to lead the Corporate and Strategic Finance technology area. This role is accountable for the delivery and evolution of forecasting and planning applications/platforms while driving engineering excellence, talent development and alignment with enterprise architecture and risk standards. This leader will play a key role in advancing Corporate Finance's AI strategy by building the next generation AI driven business processes and workflows in addition to enabling responsible and consistent adoption of AI across the software delivery to improve productivity, quality and speed. Success in this role requires strong technical leadership, effective cross-functional partnership, and a commitment to modern engineering and AI-enabled practices that deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.


In this role, you will:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
  • Ensure adherence to the Enterprise architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
  • Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture, for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy.
  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement
  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
  • Interpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
  • Collaborate with, partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices
  • Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineering
  • Hire, build and guide a culture of talent development to have the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy, as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers
  • Driving responsible and scalable adoption of AI across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to improve delivery speed, quality, engineering productivity, and operational reliability

  • Foster an AI‑enabled engineering culture, encouraging experimentation, continuous learning, and measurable outcomes while operating within enterprise risk and governance frameworks

  • Architect and guide enterprise‑grade LLM integrations, including MCP‑based services, remaining personally involved in design decisions to ensure compliance with Wells Fargo security, risk, and regulatory standards
  • Delivers stable, scalable, and secure data platforms.
  • Builds strong leaders and durable global teams.
  • Improves engineering productivity, quality, and time‑to‑market.
  • Leads change through adoption of modern and AI‑enabled engineering practices


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of Capital markets business processes, Corporate Finance and/or FP&A, planning processes.
  • Strong organizational awareness with the ability to influence adoption of new technologies and practices across multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Proven success leading teams through technology change at scale, including modernization initiatives, process transformation, and new capability adoption
  • Experience partnering with risk, compliance, and security teams to introduce innovation while maintaining strong controls and regulatory alignment
  • Experience in data analytics, enterprise data standards, and large-scale data processing platforms
  • Experience in financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and related reporting frameworks
  • Experience leading globally distributed teams in a matrix organization
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI platforms and developer productivity tools (e.g., copilot, automation, analytics, observability) and providing guidance on their effective and responsible use
  • Experience translating AI and engineering capabilities into tangible business and customer outcomes, including efficiency gains, improved customer experience, or reduced operational risk
  • Familiarity with Agentic AI workflows, MCP, Skills based patterns is a strong plus

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$159,000.00 - $305,000.00
