About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with Ab Initio


In this role, you will:

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments

  • Contribute to large scale planning of strategies

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments

  • Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures

  • Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals

  • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Hadoop / Big Data ecosystems.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for ETL deployments.
  • Exposure to data quality, metadata frameworks, or governance tools.
  • Prior experience in BFSI, telecom, or large enterprise data environments.

Job Expectations

  • Strong hands-on experience in Ab Initio development
  • Advanced proficiency in PDL (metadata-driven development)
  • Expertise in Ab Initio components: Graphs, Plans, DML, MFS, Rollup, Join, Partitioning
  • Experience with Ab Initio Co>Operating System, GDE, and EME
  • Strong knowledge of EME and metadata management
  • Proven ability in performance tuning and optimization of large-scale ETL jobs
  • Strong working knowledge of Unix/Linux and Shell scripting
  • Experience with RDBMS: Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata
  • Good understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL architecture, and data modeling
  • Experience handling large-scale data processing (GBs level)
  • Design, develop, and maintain complex Ab Initio graphs for batch and near real-time processing
  • Build and manage PDL-based scalable ETL frameworks
  • Implement end-to-end data integration solutions (extract, transform, validate, load)
  • Optimize ETL jobs for performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Perform source-to-target mapping, data modeling, and technical design reviews
  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide root cause analysis with long-term fixes
  • Collaborate with business analysts, architects, QA, and DevOps teams
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and standards
  • Support production deployments and on-call activities
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews for best practices

Seeking highly experienced Senior Ab Initio Engineer with 10+ years of hands-on experience, including strong expertise in PDL (Parameter Definition Language) programming, to design, develop, and optimize large-scale ETL and data integration solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Ab Initio components, performance tuning, and enterprise data warehousing environments.
