Senior Lead Analytics Consultant - Payments

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Analytics Consultant to join the Payments & Money Movement team within Consumer Banking & Lending. In this role, you will provide strategic thought leadership and deep analytical expertise on high‑priority, high‑visibility initiatives, delivering data‑driven insights that inform critical business decisions in the rapidly evolving consumer payments and money movement landscape. You will partner closely with cross‑functional teams throughout the full analytics lifecycle—from shaping problem statements and driving cross‑team ideation, to data extraction and engineering, to translating complex analyses into clear, actionable business insights for senior stakeholders.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide strategic analytical vision, direction, and subject‑matter expertise to senior leadership through the application of advanced analytics, modern data techniques, and AI‑enabled solutions.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the end‑to‑end payments data landscape across the enterprise, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of translating complex data into actionable insights.

  • Partner across lines of business and functions to shape and influence analytical strategies that address highly complex business challenges and technical needs at scale.

  • Engage effectively with professionals and leaders at all levels of the organization, serving as a trusted advisor and thought partner on data‑driven decision making.

  • Ensure all analytical initiatives adhere to applicable legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements, embedding a strong risk and controls mindset across project execution.


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Analytics, Reporting, Financial Modeling or Statistics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 7+ years SQL or SAS coding


Desired Qualifications:

  • Financial services experience with a strong understanding of retail consumer banking dynamics, payments behaviors, and relevant macroeconomic trends.

  • Familiarity with traditional and emerging payment and money movement channels, including checks, wires, ACH, ATM networks, debit card transactions (POS, AFT, OCT), and real-time/digital rails such as Zelle, InterFI, and FedNow.

  • Master’s or advanced degree in data science, statistics, economics, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, SAS, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, or similar analytical languages and visualization tools, with a demonstrated focus on data quality, precision, and governance; working knowledge of Wells Fargo data assets and platforms is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience sourcing, assembling, analyzing, and interpreting large‑scale transactional datasets, including building reusable data structures, repeatable analytic workflows, and innovative analytical solutions.

  • Proven ability to integrate and synthesize complex datasets from internal and external sources to perform customer, market, and industry analyses and deliver well‑supported insights and recommendations.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to develop clear, compelling executive‑ready materials; experience with Think‑Cell is preferred.

  • Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives concurrently while maintaining clear communication, alignment, and transparency with a broad set of business partners.

  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills, with demonstrated success collaborating across business and technical teams and communicating effectively at all organizational levels.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical concepts into clear business narratives.

  • Curiosity‑driven mindset with a passion for developing creative solutions and building new analytical capabilities that enable faster, deeper insights.

  • Demonstrated interest in leading and mentoring junior team members, including guiding work prioritization, supporting deadline management, and promoting high performance in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments.

Job Expectations:

  • Hybrid work schedule

  • Up to 5% travel

Pay Range:

Minnesota: $139,000- $239,000annually

California: $153,000- $260,000 annually

Actual salary will depend on location, experience, and qualifications.

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$139,000.00 - $260,000.00
